Today, I am thankful for the phone call I received from my Regional Medical Center indicating they have scheduled me to begin chemotherapy on May 19th.
I praise God for taking away my fear of chemo. I now see it as an opportunity to possibly prolong/extend my life.
Gentle Jesus is going through chemo with me.
I am thankful for the beautiful, moving Christian worship and praise music I have been listening to, hour after hour.
Hillsong rocks!

Hello:
My local Regional Medical Center just called.
Medi-Cal has approved my chemo treatment.
On Tuesday, May 19th at 8:00 a.m., I see my oncologist first, then chemo will be administered through the implanted port.
Our Gentle Lord Jesus will get me through this.
A lady at church signed up to help me. She will be taking me to EVERY chemo appointment! (I will be having 6 months of treatment.) She took her sister and her daughter to this nearby Regional Medical Center for chemo. She is going to call me later today; I have never met her.
And if ever she cannot take me to an appointment, my friend Robin said she will take me.
I praise God for His care and daily---even hourly---provision for ALL my needs.
Love and hugs in Christ---------------

Tonight, my Christian friend cut off my hair with a pair of scissors. Then she went over my head with a pair of hair clippers, then finished with a razor.
She was very patient and kind to do this for me, and I thank God for friends like her.
I am trying to prepare for the beginning of chemo on Tuesday, May 19th.
Thank you all for your beautiful, heartfelt prayers and posts.

With regard to talking about my cancer/treatment/ etc., with friends---I am very brief and to the point. Just the facts. No drama or exaggeration.
Many friends marvel aloud that I retain my sense of humor. People come in looking like they're prepared for a funeral, and in minutes, I have them laughing! It is a fun challenge to help people see the bright side of life with cancer.
My psychiatrist asked me a month ago if I'd cried about having been diagnosed with cancer. I told her I had not, that in my experience, there was not much to cry about. If things go well, I'll go through chemo, grow my hair back, and get back most of my strength. I will have "X" number of years of life, potentially, and then I will go home to Heaven. For pain, meds will help. If things go less well, I will go to Heaven sooner. Nothing to cry about, in my estimation.
Also, I have shared with this doctor that I am a Christian. She is Catholic.
I do not grieve; I rejoice. It is a win-win situation from any angle I choose to view it. What few regrets I have, are given to God.
I have never felt so loved, peaceful, happy and content with my life.
I see beauty everywhere. Beautiful geometric patterns, colors, incredible fragrances, etc.
I am in the Springtime of my life, and am humbly enjoying it with utmost gratitude to God, the Giver of Life.
Love to you all, in Christ.

No tears
What a testimony you have given!! My three doctors are Christians and they all have told me that my optimistic outlook on the present and future has helped me as much as the chemo, surgery, etc. Keep your Faith; and keep testifying as an encouragement for others.
Those six months seem like a long time right now (I remember)....but they will soon be over. I began my treatments at the end of May in 2003 and before I knew it, autumn with the beautiful fall colors was upon us and treatments were a thing of the past.
You were determined to be BALD, weren't you? LOL Have you had your smiley face painted on the back of your bald head yet??? Because my hair only thinned, (did not go bald)....I didn't get the smiley face.
I thank the Lord for his mercy toward me as I battled cancer, and praise Him, He won the battle for me.

I'm in tears and awe here at what you ladies have shared..the faith you have and the outlooks you display. You are truly truly inspiring. Most likely, without even knowing it, you have touched so very many who are facing cancer and giving them hope. I know you have both touched my heart very deeply. love you Pamela and Sassy, very much.

Here's today's FIRST CHEMO update----------
Today I had my first chemo infusion at my local Regional Medical Center.
A friend from church drove me there, and sat with me the entire time near my recliner.
The infusion of the chemo meds took 7 hours.
My oncologist put me on: Taxotere, Herceptin (I'm triple positive) and Carboplatin. Additionally, I take a Femara tablet in the morning.
I will have chemo every 3 weeks.
One day a month, I go in for lab work, the next day is chemo, and the third day I get an injection of Neulasta to protect against infection. The Neulasta will increase my white blood cell production.
The infusion went smoothly and well. I did not get nauseated or vomit.
I was given two prescriptions for nausea and vomiting, which I'll pick up tomorrow (actually, a friend will get them for me.)
I may have certain side effects tonight and tomorrow.
I'm drinking plenty of fluids, staying out of our Southern California 92 degree sunshine, and praying and listening to music.
And now, I'm going to lay down for a couple of hours.
I praise God for His love and protection!
Love and hugs to all, in Christ---------
