Whoever calls on the
name of the LORD shall

Names are important. Parents may spend months researching and deciding on the perfect name for their baby. Often their final decision is based on its sound, uniqueness, or meaning.
One woman took on a new name because she disliked her original name. she mistakenly believed that changing it could alter her destiny. That's not likely, but for those who trust in Jesus as their Savior and are identified by His name from that time on, a radical transformation does take place.
There is a powerful significance attached to the name of Jesus. The apostles performed miracles (Acts 3:6-7,16; 4:10). They spoke and taught in the name of Jesus. They baptized believers in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38). And it is only through the name of Jesus that we gain access to the Father (Acts 4:12).
When we become Christians, we share in that worthy name. And as we follow Christ, we are able to reflect His light to any darkness we encounter, whether in our neighborhood, our workplace, or even our home. Our prayer should be that when people see us__they will see Christ.
Our names may have meaning or significance. But to bear the name Christian is life-transforming. __ Cindy Hess Kasper

**************Today's Bible Reading __ Acts 3:1-16****************
1 Now Peter and John went
up together to the temple
.... 2 And a certain man
lame from his mother's
womb was carried, whom
they laid daily at the gate of
the temple which is called
Beautiful, to ask alms....
4 And fixing his eyes on
him, with John, Peter said,
"Look at us." 5 So he gave
them his attention, expecting
to receive something from
them. 6 Then Peter said,
"Silver and gold I do not
have, but what I do have I
give you: In the name of
Jesus Christ of Nazareth,
rise up and walk." 7 And he
took him by the right hand
and lifted him up, and
immediately his feet and
ankle bones received
strength....
11 Now as the lame man
who was healed held on to
Peter and John, all the
people ran together to them
... greatly amazed. 12 So
when Peter saw it, he
responded to the people:
"Men of Israel, why do you
marvel at this? Or why look
so intently at us, as though
by our own power or
godliness we had made this
man walk? 13 The God of
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
the God of our fathers,
glorified His Servant Jesus,
whom you delivered up and
denied in the presence of
Pilate.... 14 But you denied
the Holy One and the Just,
and asked for a murderer to
be granted to you, 15 and
killed the Prince of life,
whom God raised from the
dead, of which we are
witnesses. 16 And His name,
through faith in His name,
has made this man strong,
whom you see and
know...."

It is significant that Peter carefully removes any doubt about the
source of the lame man's healing. Verse 12 says the source of healing
wasn't Peter or John--it was the power of God in Christ (vv.13-16).
He pointed them sway from himself and to the Savior. __ WEC
