OUR DAILY BREAD : IF ONLY...
FRIDAY AUGUST 11
IF ONLY...
TODAY’S READING
John 11:21-35
_______________________________________________________________
Lord, if you had
been here, my
brother would not
have died. John 11:32
_______________________________________________________________
As we exited the parking lot, m yhusband slowed the car to wait for a young woman riding her bike. When Tom nodded to indicate she could go first, she smiled, waved, and rode on. Moments later, the driver from a parked SUV threw his door open, knocking the young bicyclist to the pavement. Her legs bleeding, she cried as she examined her bent-up bike.
Later, we reflected on the accident: If only we had made her wait...if only the driver had looked before opening his door. If only...Difficulties catch us up in a cycle of second-guessing ourselves. If only I had known my child was with teens who were drinking...If only we had found the cancer earlier...
When unexpected trouble comes, we sometimes question the goodness of God. We may even feel the despair that Martha and Mary experienced when their brother died. Oh, if Jesus had only come when He first found out that Lazarus was sick! (JOHN 11:21-32).
Like Martha and Mary, we don’t always understand why hard things happen to us. But we can rest in the knowledge that God is working out His purposes for a greater good. In every circumstance, we can trust the wisdom of our faithful and loving God.
**Father, You have carried me through hard circumstances before. Thank
You for teaching me to trust Your heart of love even when I don’t
understand what You are doing in my life.

To trust God in the light is nothing, but to trust Him in the dark__that is faith.

Re: OUR DAILY BREAD : IF ONLY...
I love the way Author, Cindy Hess Kasper, applies God's Word to every day circumstances. That is precisely what The Lord wants us to do. Whatever we're going through, The Word is faithful to minister to our needs. God's Word is key to our personal relationship with Him. God is Good! Thank you Jesus!
Thank you, Cimi, for bringing these blessed messages to this site.
God bless and keep you,
Mack

Re: OUR DAILY BREAD : IF ONLY...
Sorry I haven’t been posting. After the divorce trial I’ve been pretty much bed- ridden. I am severely depressed__ mainly just scared of what my husband and the family court is going to do to me next. I’m even afraid of jail or worse now and I havent’t done anything wrong. This world is getting scarier and scarier

Re: OUR DAILY BREAD : IF ONLY...
Hi Cimi,
The best medicine can be found in scripture. I want to share a few scriptures with you.
Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
Psalm 118:6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me
Hebrews 13:5-6
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
May you know I am praying for you my friend. Jesus loves you and so do I.
*hugs*
