Whether you need a weather forecast for Singapore or driving directions to a restaurant in Chicago, the answer may be just a cell-phone call away. A California-based mobile service called AsMeNow utilizes Internet content sources to send text-message replies to queries from registered users on just about any subject. In many cases, a test-message reply may be received within minutes of submitting a question.

In a sense, the invitation to ask anything, anytime, anywhere mirrors God's call to all who follow Jesus: "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach" (James 1:5). But this is more than a mobile information service. It is our heavenly Father's promise to provide the guidance we need, especially during trying times.

All we need is a sincere desire to follow God's direction and faith that His way is best. Because the Lord "gives generously to all men without making them feel foolish or guilty," we can ask in faith without doubting (vv.5-6 PHILLIPS).

The Internet is a great place to find helpful information, but there is only one source of divine wisdom to direct our steps each day. The Father invites our sincere requests anytime, anywhere. __David McCasland

*************Today's Bible Reading __ James 1:1-18***************

1 James, a bondservant of
God and of the Lord Jesus
Christ,
To the twelve tribes which
are scattered abroad:
Greetings.
2 My brethren, count it all
joy when you fall into
various trials, 3 knowing
that the testing of your faith
produces patience. 4 but let
patience have its perfect
work, that you may be
perfect and complete,
lacking nothing. 5 If any of
you lacks wisdom, let him
ask of God, who gives to all
liberally and without
reproach, and it will be
given to him. 6 But let him
ask in faith, with no
doubting, for he who doubts
is like a wave of the sea
driven and tossed by the
wind. 7 for let not that man
suppose that he will
recieve anything from the
Lord; 8 he is a double-
minded man, unstable in all
his ways.

Notice the maturing process that James calls us to in today's
Bible reading. The first element of God's plan to grow us into
Christlikeness is that we experience trials (v.2). Those trials test our
faith, producing "patience" (v.3), and that spiritual patience results
in our becoming "complete" (v.4)__spiritually mature in Christ. This
process is intended to fulfill the plan of Romans 8:29-30, Whom He
foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His
Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover
whom he predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these
He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified."
Our heavenly Father is committed to producing the "image of His
Son" in our lives, and it's that wonderful process that can allow the
believer to "count it all joy when you fall into various trials" (James
1:2). Those trials are part of the path to becoming like Christ.
