Psalm 139:1-12

O LORD, You have
searched me and

__ Psalm 139:1

Mary received a ceramic frog for her birthday from a co-worker, and she displayed it on her desk for all to see. Some of her fellow employees began to think she must like frogs, so they started to give her frog items for Christmas, birthdays, and special celebrations. Her office soon became filled with "things frog" _pens, candles, stickie notes, posters, coffee cups.
After Mary left the company, a friend asked her what she did with the frogs. She replied, "Well, I don't really like frogs, so I gave them all away."
Others mean well, yet don't always know us well. They'll never know us as God does. We are an open book to Him--there is nothing about us that is hidden from Him. Psalm 139 tells us:
> God knows everything we do (v2). He knows all the activities of our day and every detail of our schedule.
>God knows everything we think (v.2)__the good and the bad, the wholesome, and the impure.
>God knows everywhere we go__ "You comprehend my path...and are acquainted with all my ways" (v.3).
>God knows everything we say (v.4).
He knows us better than we know ourselves. Isn't it a comfort to be known so intimately by our Lord__even with all our flaws--and yet be loved so completely! __ Anne Cetas

*********Today's Bible Reading __ Psalm 139:1-12******************
1 O LORD, You have
searched me and known
me. 2 You know my sitting
down and my rising up; You
understand my thought afar
off. 3 You comprehend my
path and my lying down,
and are acquainted with all
my ways. 4 for there is not
a word on my tongue, but
behold, O LORD, You know
it altogether. 5 You have
hedged me behind and
before, and laid Your hand
upon me. 6 Such knowledge
is too wonderful for me; it
is high, I cannot attain it.
7 Where can I go from
Your Spirit? Or where can I
flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven,
You are there; if I make my
bed in hell, behold, You are
there. 9 If I take the wings
of the morning, and dwell
in the uttermost parts of the
sea, 10 even there Your hand
shall lead me, and Your
right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, "Surely the
darkness shall fall on me,"
even the night shall be light
about me; 12 indeed, the
darkness shall not hide
from You, but the night
shines as the day; the
darkness and the light are
both alike to YOu.

The inspired writer of Psalm 139 glories in the biblical doctrine that
God knows everything and is everywhere. "Search me, O God, and
know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is
any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting" (vv.23-
24). Due to this divine presence, the psalmist feels understood in
areas of obedience and is open to further divine scrutiny when he
has fallen short. The ever-present and all-seeing eyes of a just and
gracious God make him confident that God is oveseeing his growth
in righteousness. __ HDF
