Hello Mlg
God bless you this day.
Yes, I have suffered the effects of anxiety in various forms over the years, and I can tell you that I have found it far more complex than many know. It's as if the condition runs on a continuous loop, like a gerbil on one of those wheels. It not only effects the physical, but the psychological and spiritual health of it's victims, as well.
There are many medications prescribed for anxiety that help the patient regain control of the obsessive negative thoughts that overwhelm the person's mind. Those medications can be just what the person needs to get back in balance, so to speak. However, in many cases those very same medications can deplete the patient of very important vitamins, minerals and nutrients necessary to maintain physical and psychological health. Example: Vitamin B complex and magnesium -- just to name a few. There are more.
An anxiety attack could be due to extremely low levels of vitamins and minerals, and the attack itself can lead to even further depletion of those same vitamins and minerals, resulting in the person being more vulnerable to stress, illness and a host of other symptoms and conditions.
And on the spiritual level, all those negative thoughts can negatively impact our psychological health, our physical health and can also have negative effects on our spiritual health.
There is hope in Christ. Hallelujah! Thank You Jesus!! Thank You Lord God Almighty for providing us with the Way!
Search The Word of God to find powerful scriptures to recite to ourselves in those times when we know anxiety may be close at hand. One of my favorites is
II Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.Eat foods high in anti-oxidants, Complex B vitamins, and Omega 3 fatty acids. Also educate ourselves about healing foods, then actually eat them.
One thing that reminds me is that silly promo for Almond Joy and Mounds candy bars: "Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't." Well, walnuts are powerful brain food. And almonds too for that matter -- they strengthen our ability to thinking more clearly. And, they are also on the anti-oxidant food list I mentioned above. Unless there is a medical reason you cannot consume nuts, get a-crackin'.
Mlg, you learned through experience and by the grace of God to recognize and discern that sense/feeling when anxiety is approaching and you now choose to step away from the situation for a moment to regroup. That is extremely important, and sound advice to those of us that are challenged by anxiety.
Mlg, I know what it's like to experience an anxiety attack, and it is truly the pits. I thank you for bringing this condition to light, and I hope that what I shared will be of service to you, and to others, as well. I also am sending up prayers to The Lord in the name of Jesus on your behalf. God's will be done.
God bless and keep you,
Mack
