Old Self ressurected
Just a thought see if anyone else has this problem. I have rededicated my life to Jesus. He has taken me to a deeper place in him. A hiding place. I feel so full of the holy spirit and feel like Jesus has given me a "future and a Hope". It seems like I am not even the same person especially inside, I dont feel the same or even think the same. My problem is people, especially my family keeps throwing my past in my face, Everytime I do anything, they say,
"oh, it's because you did this" or its because youre...... or whatever. I know I am a new creation, I can feel it in my soul. I wonder why they keep ressurecting the old me when the old me died through Christ. Unfortunely I live with my sister, so I have to act the way and say what she wants me to say or else she will kick me out of her house. So, I just have to take her insults, and since living with her, I have learned what the scripture means when it says thier tongues are like razors, Cuz, when she talks to me, I literally feel like my heart has been split with a razor. I guess, it's part of the growing process and part of the ememy's plan to keep me in bondage. I just want to know if anyone has any spiritual wisdom to impart on this matter. Thanks, I love this site. God Bless!

You ARE a new creation! Don't let their words or accusations tell you otherwise. Change makes people uncomfortable. We scramble and fight to keep things familiar. They see changes in you, and though those changes are positive, they may just me in that scrambling mode to keep things the way they know. Reminding you of who you were, how you used to be, think, act, may simply be their way of trying to maintain what they see as 'normal.' Forgive them, remind them gently that you are not that person any more, that you no longer want to do those things or behave in that manner. And most importantly, continue to let your light shine. Let them see the changes in you. I pray God gives you patience as you walk through this time.

Thank you that was very encouraging today. I know I am new, God knows I am new, I guess when they see my face they still see the old me, like a reminder. I learned one time if you do the same dance with the same partner..when one of the partner changes his steps, it throws the whole dance off. I guess I will have to teach my dance partners my new dance. (In love of course!)

Re: Old Self ressurected
Hello Judah
God bless you this day.
Awwww, I can relate on so many levels but, more importantly, Jesus can relate as well:
Matthew 13:57-58 And they were offended in Him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. (58) And He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Remember, too, the scriptures where others would comment (paraphrase) Jesus, isn't he Joseph's, the carpenter, boy?
It is harder for our family members to see the new person, because their history and memories of us over-ride their perspective.
The Lord loves you, Judah. Just continue to pray for your sister, exercise great patience with her, and walk with God.
God bless and keep you.
In Christ Jesus' love,
Sister Mack
