Anxiety Attacks

Postby mlg » Mon Oct 30, 2017 5:44 pm

Anyone besides me suffer from anxiety attacks? Mine happen in a crowd of strangers. This is the time of year that I seem to suffer most, as going in overcrowded stores full of the holiday shoppers just terrifies me. My doctor has prescribed something for me to take as needed, but often I will just avoid situations of large crowds. Anxiety attacks as anyone knows are physically draining. For me I start out getting really hot and short of breath, then I cry and shake, then I get really cold, and then I sleep. It can be scary if you don't recognize the signs. For me, I've learned to recognize the signs, and remove myself from the situation quickly before the other effects start to happen.

I pray that one day I will no longer suffer from these attacks.

Although, I do not suffer from anxiety attacks, I do have occasional bouts of anxiety. It is on account of my current living situation. I take medication for it when needed. When my living situation improves, I should no longer need the medication.

I hope and pray that you do better in the future.

Hello Mlg :)

God bless you this day.

Yes, I have suffered the effects of anxiety in various forms over the years, and I can tell you that I have found it far more complex than many know. It's as if the condition runs on a continuous loop, like a gerbil on one of those wheels. It not only effects the physical, but the psychological and spiritual health of it's victims, as well.

There are many medications prescribed for anxiety that help the patient regain control of the obsessive negative thoughts that overwhelm the person's mind. Those medications can be just what the person needs to get back in balance, so to speak. However, in many cases those very same medications can deplete the patient of very important vitamins, minerals and nutrients necessary to maintain physical and psychological health. Example: Vitamin B complex and magnesium -- just to name a few. There are more.

An anxiety attack could be due to extremely low levels of vitamins and minerals, and the attack itself can lead to even further depletion of those same vitamins and minerals, resulting in the person being more vulnerable to stress, illness and a host of other symptoms and conditions.

And on the spiritual level, all those negative thoughts can negatively impact our psychological health, our physical health and can also have negative effects on our spiritual health.

There is hope in Christ. Hallelujah! Thank You Jesus!! Thank You Lord God Almighty for providing us with the Way!

Search The Word of God to find powerful scriptures to recite to ourselves in those times when we know anxiety may be close at hand. One of my favorites is II Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Eat foods high in anti-oxidants, Complex B vitamins, and Omega 3 fatty acids. Also educate ourselves about healing foods, then actually eat them. lol
One thing that reminds me is that silly promo for Almond Joy and Mounds candy bars: "Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't." Well, walnuts are powerful brain food. And almonds too for that matter -- they strengthen our ability to thinking more clearly. And, they are also on the anti-oxidant food list I mentioned above. Unless there is a medical reason you cannot consume nuts, get a-crackin'. :)

Mlg, you learned through experience and by the grace of God to recognize and discern that sense/feeling when anxiety is approaching and you now choose to step away from the situation for a moment to regroup. That is extremely important, and sound advice to those of us that are challenged by anxiety.

Mlg, I know what it's like to experience an anxiety attack, and it is truly the pits. I thank you for bringing this condition to light, and I hope that what I shared will be of service to you, and to others, as well. I also am sending up prayers to The Lord in the name of Jesus on your behalf. God's will be done.

God bless and keep you,
Mack

Wow thank you both for sharing with me your experiences with anxiety. I had no clue that there were foods that help with anxiety. I will definitely get some walnuts. I eat almonds already on occasion, but looks like I need to eat some more.

My daughter also suffers from anxiety. She is having to learn also to control her emotions when she feels an attack hit. I sometimes wonder if anxiety can be hereditary.

Take care

Hello Mlg (((hugs)))

God bless you this day.

I'm glad you found the info about nuts helpful. It is rather cool, isn't it, that certain foods can make such a big impact on our health and life.

While all nuts have quite a bit of fat in them, a 1-ounce serving per day may just be what the doctor ordered. Provided there are no allergies or physical conditions that would prohibit the consumption of nuts, the benefits of eating 1 ounce of nuts (per day) usually outweighs (no pun intended) the risk of eating a food that is high in fat. Besides, it's good fat -- heart healthy fat -- and when consumed in moderation (1 oz. serving) is good for you.

You can google how many nuts, by type, are in a 1 oz. serving, and find out the health benefits per type of nut. You can also google "foods that are good for fighting anxiety" for a list of various foods.

As far as anxiety being inherited, I'm not sure...but, possibly. I do know that we often teach our children good and/or bad coping skills and behaviors by example: by how we deal or don't deal in our own life. *Doh*

The Good News is God isn't finished with us yet, and there is blessed hope in Jesus! Yeah! Thank You Jesus!!! As followers of Christ, we (including our children) are His masterpieces.

Ephesians 2:10 King James Version (KJV)
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

NOTE: Emphasis added by me, Mack.

God bless and keep you and your sweet daughter.
Love,
Mack
