Have a prescription for spiritual cleansing?

Hello All!

Blessings!

Following is an example of a prescription one might use for spiritual cleansing/soul cleansing each day. Do you have an example you would like to share?

By now most have had a shower or a bath, or both today. Most of us know how to take care of our physical bodies these days. Whether we do or not has been a hotly debated topic in the media off and on for a long time. But this column is devoted to spirituality, particularly that Kingdom of Heaven spirituality unequaled on this planet or elsewhere. Therefore, we believe it is important to know how to keep ourselves clean spiritually. We know how to bathe our physical body each day. Shouldn't we know how to bathe our spiritual bodies?

Let's think about it. Is the only spiritual bath we get each week on Sunday morning at church? Is that enough? Let's say we do bathe our physical bodies each day, then shouldn't we bathe our spiritual bodies as often if not more so? Well, seems reasonable one might say, but how is such accomplished? Let's examine what the Bible has to say about it.

1John.1(Bible KJV).

[7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

1John.1

[9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Let's address walking in the light first. We believe God is love. We believe God is light and there is no darkness in Him at all. We believe that whoever loves God, God lives in that person, and that person in God. (I John 4:16). That said, we also believe if such be true of us then we must also love one another.

1John.2

[10] He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

Wallah! That sums it up! Now such isn't as simple as it seems, in that such requires we exercise our will in loving, and our faith in believing, but is true nonetheless. The love of God is the light of God, and if we love God and each other continually, then we bathe spiritually continually.

But what if we do not love as prescribed? What if we get angry or have too much to drink, or do some other thing that makes us feel like we need a spiritual bath? We look to 1John 1:9 and do what is prescribed. "Hey Dad, (God), sorry about that temper thing. Thanks Dad for forgiving me and cleansing me of that." Then we go right back to the beginning of our day, and restart loving God and each other from that point on.

Such believing in God takes work, but that is the work we have to do, believe. God's part is His abundance of grace. That part was accomplished for us on the Cross. That is why the blood of our Lord Jesus is available to clean us even if we are 110 plus years old! Our part is the faith part, the believing part, where we receive a spiritual bath by loving God and one another.

It is most certainly far better to die in faith believing, than it is to live in unbelief.
