yes, it is called being filled with the Holy Spirit.
You cannot meet Jesus and God on an intellectual level... it has to be spiritual. Faith comes from the heart first, then goes to the mind.
Let me tell you how it happened to me. My sister would tell me things but I would get bored and say enough. Then once when she visited, knowing I had back problems, she asked to pray for my back. As she was praying to Jesus, my back moved into alignment and stayed that way. I knew there was something to it so I started seeking.
I accepted Jesus into my life... looking for Him.
I found a church that had wonderful worshiping music that touched me... God touched me then.
As I was driving home, I was arguing with myself (which I now know was not myself but the enemy was trying to fill me with lies) and I finally said out loud, "NO! God is not there (pointing to the sky), He is HERE! (grabbing my heart)"
Next week, the Pastor prayed for me to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I was and have never been the same.
Yes, I still had problems but now I knew there is someone there to help me with them. I knew I was loved no matter what. My sins...all my past sins, were forgiven and I was starting new.
I talk to God...I ask questions and get answers. Things that come my way are no longer luck but fate. I know that God brings people into my life that need help, need guidance and I love that He trusts me with that.
Yes, it is a supernatural connection but it is also natural.
but forever, you have to ask Him into your life. You have to want Him. He will not just come, He is polite and patient... waiting for you...
I had someone lay hands and pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I wanted Him, I wanted that connection. I was ready...

hiya sis,
i dont believe you have to have someone lay hands on you to be baptized in the spirit...none of the disciples had human hands laid on them when they received the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes into you when you confess to the Lord Jesus that He is your savior and you ask Him for forgiveness of your sins. The Holy Spirit indwells in you.He gives gifts of the spirit according to His will..and they are from Him only..and for His glory.
Some speak in tongues, some prophecy...many many different gifts. However, He can and does use people to lay hands on others for healing, for speaking in tongues...however He wants to use each gift given to each individual person.
There are no set rituals, sis...there are no "must do this first"s Jesus only must be invited in to be your Lord and savior.. ask Him to show you the gifts He has given you. I know of a woman who cried out to Him for the gift of tongues..He knew her heart. One night while she slept, she was awakened by the Holy Spirit and given the gift of tongues for whatever His purpose was in the calling He had placed on her life.
Keep seeking, sis. He is leading you. He is with you if you have asked Him in.

hi blossoms
nobody can tell you the answer to this question, for only you and God know your heart.
basically, if you believe that you cannot get to God yourself. if you believe that everything and anything "good" you do is not good enough to get you to heaven ... that you need to call on Jesus to get you there; that's how i knew, i really saw myself (my heart) as it was. not the robyn that people think/thought i was; or even who "I" thought i was.
you agree with God that you want to have Him as your father and that only His son and what He did can get you there ... because you cannot do it on your own "righteousness" because none of us is truly good.
then you take your step on to the Jesus bridge ... i call it that because that is what i see it as. Jesus is a bridge between two worlds. the Holy Spirit makes it light so we can see each step we take ON that bridge.
the Holy Spirit teaches us about our Father in two ways: intellectually (knowledge) and by revelation (supernaturally); i believe that it must be a balance of both, as God is perfectly balanced.
sis, i don't know if that that helps, but it is what i was compelled to share.

how do you know if you encounter him.
