February is Heart Month!!!
Hi everyone!!! I was watching tv earlier this evening and seemed like every break in this tv program kept talking about this being heart month and taking better care of our hearts. I know I have a long ways to go to be healthier and i havent given it to God, or I would keep taking it back. I really feel like God is calling me to take better care of my body.
So,,, that being said... i wanna encourage everyone to do the same!!! Please feel free to share what you feel you need to be doing differently to take better care of your heart and we will work on these together. A common thread no matter what the actual differences are... learning to take better care of our hearts. So please share... and GBU all

oh this is an excellent idea for a thread goldie, thank you!! i enjoy learning what others are doing healthwise ...
well, for me, i'm doing a couple of small things ... but the biggest is that i've stopped eating all deep-fried food ... (even the stuff they say is healthy, like the deep fried veggies)
we just recently got cable and i'm on cloud 9 with all the cooking shows OMG ... ..... just lovin it...
crank rascal flatts and working in my kitchen .... heaven couldn't be much sweeter ...
...of course it is, but you know what i mean !!
anyway ... i learned that any oil (even the expensive olive oil) heated beyond a certain temperature ruins it ... turns it into a carcenogenic ... some critics will say ... no, it doesn't; but i figure why take the chance ... kinda like wearing black and walking down the middle of the road at night

I generally use olive oil spray or olive oil depending on wat i make, altho i did have bacon and eggs this morning wat was i thinking? Well, i think im gonna start by just taking my lunch to work. Eat healthier at least one meal anyways. Every little bit helps. I also take fish oil which is pose to be good for ur heart. Yall keep a posting, we got a whole month to go almost

Hey ladies,
Yes, fish oil is good for the heart and you HDL levels (the "good" lipids)... Goldie if you eat fish regularly tho you may want to ask your doc about the need for a supplement cuz my doc told me I really didn't need to take the supplement since I eat seafood like 2-3 times a week.
Since going on Weight Watchers my whole grains and fiber intake has increased which I know is good for your cardio system too...
Let's try to keep exercising too to keep the blood pumping! My big ailment is high blood pressure and thank God no heart probs as of last year and the docs really encourage exercise the most to help with the BP and keeping the heart healthy!
Thanks Goldie, for posting this! It was Wear Red Day (or something like that) yesterday for Women's Heart Month and I didn't get a chance to post it in First Do No Harm forum. Hope to hear from others here on ways to protect your ticker and keep it healthy!
(Of course, the biggest one is a great BIG dose of our Jesus! )
