Where is God? Why doesn't he hear my prayers?
Often I hear this question. Especially in very bad times. Times where there seems to be nothing but evil in the world, or bad things happening in someone's life.
But don't you know God can hear, and He never left you?
Often when we feel far away from God and that He isn't hearing our prayers, it's because we need to really dig into our life and see if there is a sin in our life. Our sins separate us from God.
Isaiah 59:1-2 Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
This verse says that God can hear, but in sin he will not hear. The key words being "will not". If you are in a sinful situation, and have chosen to walk into that situation and remain in it, even if you know it is sinful, then God will be separated from you. He will still be where you left Him, but He will not be able to enter into the sinful situation with you.
Psalm 139 23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Satan will take advantage of knowing that God cannot enter into sinful situations with us. Satan will do his very best to drag us into sin, just to take us away from God. This is one of Satan's craftiest tools. This is why we should ask God to show us our sins, so that we are aware of them, and then we can turn away from those sins, and not allow Satan to use them against us.
As Christians, we all experience times where we feel far away from God. Being close to God is just like any other relationship in our life. It takes work. Studying our Bibles, praying, fellowship with other Christians are all integral parts of our walk with God. It will also help us when sinful situations arise, so that we can withstand the temptation.
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.
