Christianity Oasis Forum

This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

Smiley you have taken a huge step sis...God will use this to help you. Journaling will help you also look back and see where you are now and where you are weeks from now.

I see you are already making progress, and smiley this speaks volumes. I also notice you want your healing to continue...and you are on the path...you can do this with God's help...cuz all things ARE possible with God.

As far as friendships and attractions goes...I think the best way to work on this is to be honest with yourself and your friend....is this attraction one that God is willing or is the enemy using this attraction to take your focus away from the Lord? if so...then spending more time with God and the things of the Lord will help you to refocus your thoughts...and you will begin to be able to replace these feelings of attraction for your friend...to having a thirst and attraction to be near the Lord.

Just some suggestions sis. So proud of you for beginning this journal.

luv ya bunches

Kinda funny how we perceive our own past mistakes as being so much BIGGER than others when God sees sin ... As sin.

NEVER forget we need ONLY to ask GOD for forgiveness and then forgive ourselves.

I am so proud of ya for sharing and setting forth to renew your life.

Luv ya

Hey Smiley *Wave*

First, I am so glad to see you reaching out girl!!!

I think the filter is a great choice sis, I hope you are able to get it installed again soon.

Please try to remember, It's not about how far you have to go sis... it's about how far He has brought you already. Your strength and courage are inspiring Smiley and I know God will work through this. By finding the courage to step out and share, you will help others realize they aren't alone, in turn, giving them strength and hope. You are trying, healing and peace will come.

Please know I am here, cheering you on... always.

Hope you will continue to post and allow us to walk with you through this journey toward freedom.

Prayers are with you sis. God's Will.

Peace and Love in Christ,
*BlessYou* Lani

Addictions spring forth from constant thought towards that which we become addicted to.

Oft times ... It is a slow process to change our addictions.

Must choose to focus thoughts on something else to overcome.

Then we become addicted to the new thought process.

Choose to become addicted to JESUS.

Fill your mind and your day with ASSIGNED projects, prayer and study in HIM.

LIGHT conquers darkness.

Need proof?

Kick all lights off in house and FEEL the darkness.

Then crank on ONE light.

Darkness ... Disappears.

KICK ON THE LIGHT OF JESUS and keep that LIGHT on.

ONE day at a time folks ...

Matthew 6:34 ... Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Hey Smiley!!! *Wave*

Great to see ya posting again!!!!

I know we talked about this earlier.... so I will just recap :)
Stay Focused on Him... whenever you feel the "urge" to go where you fight so hard not to, come here. Read a study, answer a forum post, post on your blog, send a forum pm to someone, post a comment on a friends page... come play the piano in chat *BigGrin* (hint!!)
Big difference.... doing His work won't result in shame or guilt later sis.

Is it easy? Not at first.... but as you continue to push through and refocus, instead of giving in to those urges, it will become easier. It won't be all better overnight, but you will gain strength in Him.

Just wanted you to know I am still here walkin with ya sis.... one step at a time girl.

Hope to see another post (from you) soon!!!! *Cheer3*
Luv ya tons!!

Smiley sis...true Joy comes from Him within us....when we find ourselves fighting the same addictions day in and day out...the only way we will ever get past the addiction...is to allow the Healer to do what He does best...HEAL. As Oasis said, the mind is the battlefield in which the enemy will use to throw the temptation our direction...learning to take control of every thought...will in turn bring the mind under control...and fighting off temptation will become possible....as all things ARE possible with God.

luv ya

It was all my fault that she got sick and was away for a few weeks. I don't want anyone to have to go away ever again!

Smilely you said it right there sis...It is not your fault! It is not your fault that your mom got sick and it is not your fault that your friend is sick. It is not your fault that you were abused.

I am sure that the friend knows that you are behind her and would do anything you could for her. You are that kind of person. You would give your last cent to help someone why you did without. That my friend is love.

Please take all the guilt off you and throw it away. You need to let God get into those secret areas and begin to heal your heart. Which you are doing and I am so proud of you.

Keep sharing and keep reaching sis. You are surely but slowly healing.
Love ya sis

Oh Yeah Can you forgive yourself also???

You cannot blame yourself for what happened to your mom sis when you told her what happened. Your mom was hurting because you were hurting. None of this was your fault.

Sounds like you were up most of the night because your mind was running with thoughts...time to begin turning those thoughts sis...to the ONE who brings peace to times of trials.

God is in control of all things sis...and His plan is perfect.

Keep sharing sis...this is good for you.

Smiley I often think of you when struggling with the past because you seem to be on a very simular path as I am.

Yesterday a light came on for me as well. I shared in my thread. Dad was threatened by one of my abusers when he confronted him. Mom was shamed by him. She cried like I have never seen her cry before or since. Not even at her mothers death. It was my fault. The fight was my fault. It was over me. We are both carrying unforgiveness against ourselves when it's not needed. Because it wasn't our fault that we were hurt and that adults found out and they were hurt. I understand what you mean, if you hadn't of shared it wouldn't of happened. If I had of ran like my sister and cousin did, it wouldn't have happened. We were children. What if one of those kids of yours shared and it hurt you would you blame them? ;)

So what can we do now? Carry a burden that was never intended? It's not Gods will is it? His blood on the cross is rich enough.

Jesus loves you and so do I.
