Understanding The Mystery
http://www.examiner.com/spirituality-in-st-louis/understanding-our-mysterious-journey
Hello All,
Blessings!
Happy 4th of July weekend! Play safe!
Not long ago we were talking with Kathleen Kajer, a nun formally associated with the Pruitt Igoe housing project in downtown St. Louis. Such was a modern apartment complex for low income people from 1956 to the very early 1970s. It became famous around the world for its crime, poverty, and segregation. (Wikipedia,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pruitt-Igoe). Sister Kathleen did her part to help those she could, but after a 15 year run, the infamous land mark of failed socialist idealism had to be destroyed.
Historically the Catholic Church has always played a major role in helping the poor, perhaps more so than any other Christian denomination in the world. According to the Encarta World English DictionaryCatholic means the following:
all-inclusive: including or concerned with all people, useful to all: useful or interesting to a wide range of people, all-embracing: interested in or sympathetic to a wide range of things
We complement all Catholics everywhere that practice their faith within the parameters of the above definition as they are of great benefit to mankind. Unfortunately, such does little to prepare us to enter into eternal life while still alive in this physical body that we are clothed in. And that is the purpose of Christianity. Such is where we begin our mysterious journey. Such begins a spiritual path with Christ within. Serving the poor, sick, in prison and needy is certainly part of the mission of the universal church, but such is not the main objective. The main objective is to understand the mysteries spoken of by our Lord and enter into and hold onto eternal life while we are here, so that we will be ready to walk in the glory of the life to come. We have been called to be the disciples of Christ, not the disciples of a denomination's belief system. And we have been called to spread the Gospel of Christ, not the doctrine of our church. Such does not happen over night. But it most likely will never happen if we do not begin our walk toward the Kingdom of Heaven through our faith in Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Neither Protestant nor Catholic can take the place of Christ our Lord living within our souls. There is no substitute. Salvation comes to us by the working of Christ within. There is no Catholic life or Protestant life within us that gives us life. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. To live in Him and He in us is the way, the truth, and the life.
Please understand, we are not advocating a new Protestant Reformation here, but a Catholic and Protestant Reformation all together at the same time. We are asking that the universal church which is both Catholic and Protestant be restored to a unity of purpose as in our Lord's flock of old. Such opens up the word of God to our understanding through the Holy Spirit, and sets us on the straight and narrow path into the light of His glory. All that is required is our willingness to repent of our sins before the Cross of our Lord and ask Him to receive us into the baptism of His death and raise us up within Him in the likeness of His resurrection. Such begins our new birth. Then, as we learn to abide in Him, the leading of God begins to move us toward the straight and narrow. We may have to endure much suffering, but as we continue, our Lord will lead us into more and more of His life as we hear those things He has said to us and do them. Many experiences through the Holy Spirit will help us grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of those things of God within us, and that which is prepared for us in the life to come.
A short definition of eternal life is this, to know the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. While the law was our school master to bring us to Christ, our love of doing what He has taught us brings us to the knowledge of the Father. Knowing the Father is eternal life. Such should be our goal in right doing, to love and obey our Lord so much that His Father, Our Father, comes to us and reveals Himself to us. Such is eternal life, and such is where our understanding is opened up to understand the mysteries of our journey.
In our next article we will discuss why it is that when we abide in Christ, and He in us, we can ask what we will and it will be done unto us. Such is the first mystery of our journey that we will open up to you.
Blessings!

It is most certainly far better to die in faith believing, than it is to live in unbelief.
