Focus and Mindset

Postby Zandersmommy » Sun Apr 17, 2011 10:43 pm

Alot of the time when I am in the midst of an anxiety attack or feeling depressed I am not sure what to do. I feel like I am wrong or loosing it. I have often feared going crazy. After taking an online quiz on Anxiety I found out that is a common symptom of Anxiety. I attended a Christian Support group online tonight and it really helped me. The person in charge of the group was discussing how the focus should be on God and that if we can alter the way we think and change the thoughts in our head we can focus on God and become closer to him and further away from the irrational or hurtful thoughts. I know I have always worried and I know that in the past I have trusted in the natural world and very little in the spiritual one. However the lord is leading me to trust more in him and become a more positive person. I just need to get through this and focus on the term that so many people use which is "this too shall pass". However it doesn't feel like that sometimes and when negative talk or thoughts come my way it is hard sometimes to remain positive or to stay away from the anxiety I am facing.

*hug5* Welcome to the Oasis.

You are doing well in seeking Him. I can assure you you are on the right path. I know it is difficult work to get a grip on our minds. But it's worth the effort. It does get easier.

Trust in Him. Rest in Him. Everything is going to be alright. :)

*Pray* Praying you find the peace you seek.
*angel7* Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up! Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.

Hello Zandersmommy :)

God bless you this day.

Have you started the CCCC (COOL Confidential Christian Counseling) Study here on this site? I encourage you to do so. It is an Holy Spirit inspired 14-Day Study. Here is the link: http://www.christianityoasis.com/CCCC/Forum.htm

In addition, there are many, many other Studies which all lean heavily on The Word of God, that I know have helped many, including myself. http://www.christianityoasis.com/Keywor ... tudies.htm

I'm looking forward to seeing you around the site -- it is good to have you here with us. :)

God bless and keep you.
In Christ Jesus' love,

Just for input here. From my point of view and I think it is biblical. We are not promised that we will never have anxiety and depression. From what I can see many biblical people suffered the same as you and I do. I struggle with a lot of anxiety, depression and very intrusive thoughts that I hate. But, remember this:

1Pe 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 1Pe 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Though it is next to impossible to "feel" joyful when we are depressed. Maybe we could count it all as joy anyway. I feel like such a fraud when I count it joy when my feelings are telling me something else, but the Word tells us to do it. Maybe we can do it by faith and the Lord will change our feelings, but if he decides not to just remember that the trying of your faith is more precious than Gold. Hang in there... *Clap* Steve
