I moved out of the rose garden and into the yard... giving some attention to the trees which I've largely taken for granted.

Laying the garden hose at the base of my Mango tree, i soon realized that the soil was so dry the water just spread out across the yard. In fact, instead of absorbing the water the soil was actually floating on top of the water (yes, i live in Florida). I had to get the garden hoe and break up the soil, softening and preparing it before the water would even begin to nourish the tree. Even then, I found that if I didn't turn the water down very low and feed it slowly the water didn't seep in but just continued to run off into the yard.

Of course that got me thinking and wondering how that correlates to my spiritual garden. I see now that this is why God has allowed things in my life to break me; so that His Word will be able to sink in and renourish me. And scripture is more able to change me when i take just a small amount at once and saturate myself thoroughly with it before taking more.

Things are looking a lot better.... most of of the weeds have been removed, the dead branches pruned, the plants fed and watered. Tomorrow I may actually go and buy some Stepping Stones...

Amazing splash how something so small can be so large when you step back and take a look at the big picture. Thanks for sharing your gardening adventures, as I do believe we can all relate to how our spiritual lives can use a little pruning. Love ya.
