loving myself

Postby huelsingbroad » Sat Jun 05, 2010 7:57 pm

someone pls show me where in the bible Jesus instructs us to love ourselves.
love God and neighbor were two commandments, not three. i do know that we are told to deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him.
throughout the entire Holy Scripture, we are told (admonished) to focus on God and others.
Jesus did just that. he took no thought for His own life, but gave it freely that we sinners could come to Him for salvation.
who we are as the body of Christ and being "in Christ" does not point us to how wonderful we are, but rather, how gracious God is.
every one of us is worthy of a burning hell and had it not been for God's grace and mercy, that's exactly what we would have to look forward to.
the world is "self" conscious, the church is supposed to be "Christ" conscious.
pls don't adopt the world view that states unless you esteem yourself you will not be able to overcome, Christians do not overcome on their own, by their flesh, but by the grace of the Almighty.
He gave us His Spirit, and His Spirit points us to Christ, not to self.
pls prayerfully ponder these words.
you can love if you've never been loved, because God is love and abides in you. he wants to heal and transform, but He gives that love so it can be given away, not stored up and hoarded.
i pray that all who read these words, God will remove the blinders of secular psychology and bring revelation and wisdom.
