where i am today
my router is a piece of crap. i have been fighting it for a year. randomly it quits broadcasting wireless and has to be hard-reset and programming added to it. of course i hafta do this by myself because it makes hubby angry and i would rather spend hours doing it myself than hafta deal with him being angry about it. so since last night i have tried the hard-reset 4 times and it just wont broadcast wireless. its done. so now we will hafta get a new one, which will tick him off for days. so im just going to hafta hard line all the computers into the router down here in the 'office'. joy. great way to start the day. Holy Spirit isnt talking to me since yesterday afternoon and i cant figger out what i've done. i saw a couple things and asked forgiveness and general forgiveness over whatever it is i'm missing, please show me so i can fix it...and nothing. i have 3 times asked for a word and 3 times opened the bible into Daniel 7-10 in 2 different bibles. thinking that after the first 2 times in the same bible that it must be a crease in the page thats making the bible open to the same place twice.
i dunno why He would be showing me these prophecy scriptures. another time i tried to read in Chronicles and another time in Kings and nothing was sinking into my head. it was like ...scrambled eggs, even though i prayed for understanding. what am i missing? He never not talks to me.
anyways...maybe i'll get back on later /shrug

Psalms 51:10-12
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right Spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free Spirit.

What do you like to do? Is music your thing? Have you ever thought of writing songs that glorify God? That would certainly be considered Me working through you. Many of the Psalms in the Bible are songs that king David wrote to God. You can feel My work in and through David's words. What about painting or art or craftwork of some kind that exudes glory to your Father? Teaching? Organizing? Helping? Photography? Care giving? Writing? There are so many things ... But only by your wish to use your Spiritual gifts for God's glory, can you turn an average skill into a gifted talent. There are dozens of things that you can do right here at the Oasis that will allow Me to work through you. The next time you spend time alone with Me, offer your heart to God and ask in Jesus' name for Me to work through you. Be confident. Ask Me to show you exactly what to do. Ask Me to develop your gifts and talents to glorify the Father. Pray about it. Don't doubt. You have what it takes ... It's part of you. All you have to do, is unlock the door of desire and do it!

Re: where i am today
Hello Sortamorta
God bless you this day.
Don't be dismayed, The Holy Spirit is right there, and even though you may believe you are not hearing Him, perhaps He is just using other means than you are accustomed to, to talk to you. He is pretty creative.
You mentioned reading some of Chronicles and Kings, but not getting any understanding. That happens to me quite often. Again, don't be dismayed or discouraged. Something cool that I've noticed -- you know how the 4 Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) are all similar, yet if we only read one of the Gospels, we'd miss out on a lot -- well, I have found a similar situation with I and II Samuel, I and II Chronicles, and I and II Kings. They are very similar, yet...if we only read one, we'd miss out on a lot of other valuable information. If those books of The Bible could be equated to hills, I'd tell you: "there's gold in them there hills!"
And as far as the book of Daniel, wooooohoooo! Yet, at times I've read it and it's been more like reading the list of ingredients on some overly processed junk food item, and others times it Ding, Ding, Dings within my whole being. The difference is something going on within me. It is not that The Holy Spirit is annoyed with me, He doesn't hold petty grudges like humans.
Our walk is still by faith, and not by sight. But, mankind really likes the sight and sound things a lot, huh? Yeah, me too. But, The Lord is stretching us in so many ways, to trust in Him in all things, and to have faith and to believe at all times -- even in the seemingly silent times.
One of the blessed ways He communicates to me is through nature. So in some of those restless times, where I feel a little dis-jointed, If I am able to get outside and just take in some of His "other" creation: sky, ground, water, trees, bushes, flowers, birds, squirrels, chickmunks, bees, dragonflies...woot woot!!! The last couple of Summers, I've had the pleasure of watching birds from nest to flight. I've watched parent birds work non-stop for weeks on end bulding nests, nesting, hatchlings, feeding and flight. They fret not, and they do not lose sight of the mission bred into them, nor fail to hear His call -- even amongst all the looming dangers surrounding them. It's an awesome thing to behold.
Check out Romans 8:18-23.
It is really awesome to be reminded that all creation, not just Christians, awaits His return. Wooooohooooooo!!! God is so very Good!!!
Sortamorta, The Lord loves you so very much, and I love you too.
God bless and keep you.
Love,
Mack

Re: where i am today
How do you know when you're grieving Me?
I am happy you asked!
I'll give you a little list of examples, and you'll get the idea of the kind of things to avoid.
When you ignore Me
When you don't forgive
When you don't trust Me
When you hurt My feelings
When you contend with Me
When you say something ugly
When you take Me for granted
When you're not obedient to Me
When you're embarrassed of Me
When you break a promise to Me
When you don't believe Me or doubt Me
When you entertain unrighteous thoughts
When you don't say Good Morning to Me
When you need something and don't ask Me
When you need physical proof in matters of faith
When you consult with fortune tellers and the like
When you choose temporal desires over doing the right thing
When you neglect Me or push Me aside for things of the world
When you don't thank Me or are ungrateful for what I do for you
When you would rather count on your own ability instead of My power
When you have the time to make requests of Me, but have no time to listen for My answers
Our unity is so important, and we are so intertwined that when I'm grieved, you'll feel grieved too ... And you'll want to fix it fast if it ever happens. How will you know for certain that I'm grieved? I'm glad you asked that too. You won't feel the presence of God within you and around you, like when all is well. I'm still there though ... Just more distant.
STEP #4
To complete this step, spend at least 15 minutes listening for the Holy Spirit. Be sure you go to a private place. Light a candle if you like ... Fire is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. You might put on some spiritual music. Clear your mind, and listen. He may send a message to your mind, or the candle flame may flicker, or the words of a song may suddenly take on new meaning or you may feel compelled to ask something and discover His answer through reading the Word with Him.
i did this ^ with a candle on Friday. to me as soon as i lit the candle i felt as though i was being doubting thomas and seeking physical proof. wanting the candle to flicker. i shoulda blown it out then, but i didnt. i kept looking for it to do something.
