PLEASE HELP!!!
I am a new member and am in desperate need of help. I believe I am struggling with depression and am searching for guidance. My relationship with God is still pretty new and I don't have any Christian friends to turn to. I don't know how these forums work but I trust God will help me connect with the right person...

Re: PLEASE HELP!!!
Hello Courtneynoelle
God bless you this day, and welcome to Christianity Oasis.
If you need help navigating in and around the site, just click on the first 5 lightbulb posts in this Forum.
I'm sorry to hear you suffer from depression, but at the same time, I do understand depression and how it can rob us of the balanced life The Lord has for us. I encourage you to read a 14 Day Counseling Study, here on this site, that has helped many souls, myself included, in seeking The Lord and His Word for His guidance and will for our life. The 14 Day Study is called COOL Confidential Christian Counseling (CCCC) Study, and here is the link: http://www.christianityoasis.com/CCCC/Forum.htm
There is also a separate Forum to journal, daily, as you are reading the 14 Day STudy. Here is the link to the Forum where you can start your own Topic/Journal: viewforum.php?f=14
I hope to see you around the site, and I lift up prayers to our Lord in the name of Jesus on your behalf. May God's blessed will be done.
God bless and keep you.
In Christ Jesus' love,
Sister Mack

Re: PLEASE HELP!!!
Depression feeds itself. Depression likes dark, so turn on the lights and open the blinds. Depression wants you to look down, so look up. Depression convinces you you can't do anything. So do SOMETHING. Wash one dish, pick up one piece of clothing, walk to the mailbox, touch your toes, brush your teeth, smile at one person, open one door for somebody. You can come up with a long list of little somethings you can do. Also, God is the way out. Read one verse three times a day. Say a prayer three times a day, "Help me God." is a prayer. If you will do the little things against depression it will do a lot on ... I can't think of the right word. Managing doesn't seem right - but if depression is a deep well, these things will help you to climb up a little and not sink further in.
These are helps. But depression has a cause. And finding and working on the cause is important. It could be chemical, but I think way too often that the doctors just drug you out of it instead of trying to cure it. We need God. Not seeking God alone can depress us. Having childhood trauma that affected our self-esteem, losing someone.... there are lots of reasons for depression. Drugging up a woman who just lost her husband of 50 years is inappropriate. She needs to grieve.
Anyway, hope this helps. You may PM me.

Re: PLEASE HELP!!!
I have battled with depression for the last ten years. It comes and it goes. My family doctor has had me try every anti-depressant out there but they just make me feel numb. I am hoping I have caught it this time before it gets too bad. I am still active around the house when it comes to the day to day responsibilities, but I am struggling to find the hope and joy I use to feel. I've just recently started walking with God again. I hate to admit it but it's hard for me to just pray and know He will help me. In my heart I know He's the only one that can.
