I MAY LET YOU GO

Your face in visions I see
Knocking upon my heart.
Motionless, pale, begging for life,
Recieving death.

Your children denying the truth,
Your wife comfortably numb,
your body stiff, your eyes fixed.

You have traveled from life to cadaver.
Everything's over.
I'm in jail.
Steel jail, emotional jail.

We met by chance.
You died by injection.
I gave you breath.
You recieved it not.

You won't let me go,
I won't let you go.
Your nails scratch my heart
As you cling to me.

Critical tears impregnate my head.
But they birth not.
When they are delivered like a new baby
I may let you go.
