Standing Firm
This is a day in an Allie’s soldier shoes. This battle is the Invasion of Normandy, which was a decisive Allies victory, however, it was also one of the bloodiest. A soldier that fought there, he remains anonymous, said, “Anyone who makes it up that cliff should get a medal.”
In the Invasion of Normandy, 1,332,000 Allies went in, 120,000 did not come out, compared to the 388,000 Axis troops there. However, 113,059 Axis died. Together, the casualties were 233,059 men.
The shots ring out
Fiercely attacking my troops
And I yell to my men
“Stay strong, stay firm!”
It seems as if the world tilts
The Axis lives up to its name
The bullets fiercely rip through
The cold steel is merciless and cruel
Throughout the day
I hear yelling
I smell blood
And I see death and mayhem
Throughout the night
I hear moaning
I smell death
And I see enemies and friendlies lying side by side
One and the same in death
The rain beats down
And it marries blood and tears
As the rain beats down
It beats on our spirits
Purposely crushing us
As though a cruel joke
The sun begins to rise
And its rays remind me
Remind me of yesterday
I speak to my men
I tell them many things
They seem like lies
But they are in fact truth
“Yesterday was a good day.
Today will be even better.
What do you say men?
Is No-Man’s-Land our home?
Today’s breakfast was yesterday’s victory.
We won, we won Normandy. “
And I heard their thoughts
They were as clear as day
“The clouds are crying and our losses are great.
However, the Allies are standing firm.”

As a Christian, we will find struggles and hardships like no other, that is why Jesus died for me, that is why he died for YOU! Often times we find ourselves wondering, is this life worth living? I thought I got a great deal when I signed up for this. But here is a reality check, we did not just sign up, we chose to LIVE! God gives us tests, to prove ourselves to him and so we can grow stronger, that is why our hardships are truly blessings in disguise. So count both your hardships and blessings
