14/14 on my way to the Lord!

This program has been such a blessing in my life, and has greatly improved my relationship with God. I have found that the biggest weed in my garden is my addiction to tobacco. It is SO difficult to quit smoking, I have tried so many times, and have failed. I feel ashamed each time I light a cigarette, and yet my body screams at me if I dont. It is such a viscious addiction. Have any of you, my bretheren, skucesfully fought this demon known as tobacco? And can you offer me advice on how I can defeat this evil?

I love you all with hope in Christ,

Sebas[/code]

Hello Cl0ud :)

I may be way off the ball here but I'll give it a go.

I'm wondering where does it say in the bible that smoking is so sinful that smokers need to carry such guilt?

I agree smoking is bad for your health and the health of those around you. We should always be trying to care for the temple of the Holy Spirit. Yet we can not keep all bad out of the temple can we? It's everywhere. In all our food, in our water, in our air.

If smoking is a sin because you are putting a bad substance in our temples, then soda pop, coffee, french fries, and on on on is sinful. Wow we can't eat nothing or drink nothing with out sinning. How does God expect us to follow that?

I'm thinking, he doesn't. If we could be perfect we wouldn't need the cross would we.

Maybe the first step is to remove the huge guilt. ;)

love ya

Cloud woohooo you've finished day 14 of the steps. Now the rest of the journey begins...the one of a lifetime. God has more plans for you, so seek His will and His direction always.

As for your smoking addiction...I have not been there personally, but I've had other addictions...such as overeating. I lost 100 lbs about 6 years ago. This took a lot of work, and took me about 1 1/2 years to do. It was not easy, but God guided me through it, and we fought the good fight together. The same is going to have to happen with your smoking, you need to ask God to help you, and you allow Him to fight the fight with you. You can do this, but it may take time. You may have to lower the amount you smoke, by one daily over a period of time, until you can cut to less and less and then none at all.

Praying for you.

luv ya

Hi Cloud!

I, too, smoke at night and on weekends. I can go all day without smoking but something clicks inside me and BOOM I need a cigarette! I have taken a step back and realized that there are triggers that happen that make me want to smoke. I want a cigarette the most when I first get home from work (to relax). My next one will be after I complete some house work (to celebrate). I want a cigarette when I'm in deep conversation or talking with someone (to calm my nerves cause I'm not doing anything at the time). The list goes on and on.. Now I dont have an answer, but I have done the first step.. figured out Why and when I smoke. Maybe that could be a start for you as well? I dont know but I know its hard to quit and definitely impossible without the Lord's help.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Praise the Lord! Over this weekend I finally convinced my wife to join me in walking with the Lord. We have never been closer, we both prayed for hours together asking for repentance, forgiveness, and guidance. God definitely gave us both an overwhelming sense of peace. My wife said, and I'll never forget this, "we're saved!" and we both recommitted our lives to following him. I just wanted to share with my bretheren the success and blessings I have recently receivd from our good lord. I am so happy, and I have a renewed hope for our marriage as well as for my faith in God! Praise Him!
