The Sustaining Grace of God

Postby morningrain » Sat Aug 23, 2008 10:09 am

Fighting hard depression is not fun to go through, and trying to get your mind set in the right mood of thinking isn't easy. Yesterday afternoon reading a reply from a friend, it was heart warming, with a smile on my face trying to reply back. Then my two youngest sons started fighting, so was having to deal with that, my niece every couple of minutes was and asking me questions and then my daughter was busy working on something and she was getting upset with her two younger brothers for not being quite. All of this going on at the same time. Having to discipline your children is never fun but as a parent have to from time to time when needed, both sons getting upset cause they are now being disciplined and both crying that the other started it it wasn't them and now hey are getting madder with one other cause they are now in trouble. lol, at times they can fight one minute like cats and dogs and the next be like best friends and then they're insepratable, go figure. Need to say, my nerves became all unraveled. Hearing yelling alone makes me jump. And setting off a whole chain of events, starting dinner, about to catch my stove on fire a couple of times, burning half what i cooked, house getting all smokey and burning my hand (again, second time in past few weeks, lol) while trying to take some meat out of the pan. Sometimes i shouldn't be allowed in a kitchen. Husband shortly later came in and got a little upset and said how clumsy i can be and better start watching what i'm doing. My heart sunk even deeper. By the time to getting back to the reply, all i could reply was basically thank you. The pain in my hand from the burn was feeling as maybe i deserved it for not being able to handle any situations so well. And think if there had been anything there to drink or any pills i would have done it, just so i could get through yesterday evening. Praise God there wasn't anything.

This morning is different, my song today is 'Amazing Grace'

The Song Amazing Grace...

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
The world shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun refuse to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.
When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.

This has always been one of my more favorite songs, listen to it when ever i need to feel God's Grace and Concentrate on Christ alone. Then while listening to that was reading one of the Christian walk studies here, and this verse really standing out to me this morning...

Ephesians 2:4-8
But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by GRACE ye are saved) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His GRACE in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Then reading one of cimi's daily devotions 'Feed My Sheep', and on my IM a friend is sharing with me what she was writing on this morning, "It is of absolute importance to have a foundation of Calvary deeply ingrained within the fabric of our personality that no foe in hell nor upon earth can sway us from the first principles of the oracles of God."

It's easy at times to lose prospective of God's Grace and Mercy, but it is there, and the Holy Spirit is there to help us back up. God's Grace is always sufficient to our needs, no matter the circumstances. this has brought to mind little something i wrote once. "God's Grace is a Saving Grace, and Sustaining Grace. A Healing Grace, Liberating Grace, and Restoring Grace. A Transforming Grace, May we all grow in GOD's AMAZING GRACE!!

And It is a Love beyond we could ever Imagine!"

So many times we need the Holy Spirit to remind us of these very things. The Sustaining Grace of God helps us to endure the trails and sufferings we all go through, for many on a daily basis and helps us to rise above on a daily basis. And as a friend here at Christianity Oasis has said, That God's "calling on all His servants, He will fulfill the beginning, middle and end and lead us where we are supposed to be.

1 Cor 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

God Bless you all here at Christianity Oasis

God bless and protect you, sis.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jeremiah 28:11

Love ya,
Deb
My resolution for today, next month, and years to come is to be further from the world and closer to the Word.

Amen Angeltears.
I too find myself in situations such as that. Even the dinner disasters. Just ask my hubby. lol You didn't deserve to burn your hand. As you don't deserve any punishment. The Lord took that all.
Thank you for sharing on how God led you out of the darkness and into the light. God is better than a pill or a bottle. :) We need to hear stories like this to be encouraged to seek him during those down times.
I too love that song. :)
Love ya sister

Amen to Jeremiah 28:11, even Jeremiah himself fought depression.

Hi Lizzie, thanks sis. The burn itself hurt worse then what it looks now, lol it's healing good.

Old habits have a way to coming back and haunt you sometimes. But God is greater. We serve an Awesome God. :)

Thanks Pine Sis, Amazin grace is one of my more favorite songs, i'm stuck on the way Wintley Phipps sings it at the moment, he really put his all into it.
