Food For Thought

[i][b]Why does Jesus want us to have HIS joy and delight, and not our own?
What do you think overflowing

Hello Lionhearted *hug*

What an awesome message -- wooooohoooooo!!!

Thank you, Lionhearted, and Thank You Holy Spirit.

It has my heart singing:

Getting to know You, getting to know all about You.
Getting to like You, getting to hope You like me.
Getting to know You, putting it my way,
But nicely,
You are precisely,
My cup of tea.
Getting to know You,
Getting to feel free and easy
When I am with You,
Getting to know what to say
Haven't you noticed
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about You
Day
by
day.

God bless and keep you, Lionhearted.
Love,
Mack

Hello Lionhearted *hug*

The song "Getting to know you" is -- per Wikipedia:

"Getting to Know You" is a show tune from the 1951 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King and I. It was first sung by Gertrude Lawrence in the original Broadway production and later by Marni Nixon who dubbed for Deborah Kerr in the 1956 film adaptation. In this show, Anna sings the song as she strikes up a warm and affectionate relationship with the children and the wives of the King of Siam."

Over the years it has been recorded by many people. I remember it from an album soundtrack of the movie "The King and I" (starring Yul Brenner and Deborah Kerr). One of my cousin's had it when we were children -- probably in the early 1960's. We used to play it and dance around her grandparents dining room. :)

God bless you, Lionhearted.
Love,
Mack

altho Anna and the King wasn't a musical was it. i think the original one was; well, duh, obviously if there was a song, "getting to know you" rofl

wow, talk about "joy" ... didn't Anna have it huh ... in the midst of a major tribulation and many trials as well.

What an awesome message! It comes to me at a time when joy is very difficult to find.
It triggers so many thoughts in me.
Such as love.
How loving deeply and being loved back to the same extent brings so much joy. Knowing the ones you love so deeply will always love you and never leave you brings so much peace of mind.

John 15:
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

He chose us, he loves us, he calls us friend. He asks in return that we love one another.

Thank you Lion for being used of the Lord.

hey pinella *Wave*

i'm sorry to hear that joy seems elusive to you right now *hug*

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you,

i did a study once, where i set aside a few weeks and re-read the NT with the specific purpose of finding ALL the references to or about being chosen, it was soooo invigorating to my spirit.

it still catches me with a "rush" through my emotions every time i realize that God actually chooses us!!

Absolutely amazing isn't it!

When I think of how He came so far from glory
Came to dwell among the lowly such as I
To suffer shame and such disgrace
On Mount Calvary take my place
Then I ask myself this question
Who am I?

Who am I that The King would bleed and die for?
Who am I that He would pray not my will, Thine Lord?
The answer I may never know
Why He ever loved me so
That to an old rugged cross He'd go
For who am I?

When I'm reminded of His words
I'll leave you never
If you'll be true I'll give to you life forever
Oh I wonder what I could have done
To deserve God's only Son
To fight my battles until they're won
For who am I?

Who am I that The King would bleed and die for
Who am I that He would pray not my will, Thine Lord
The answer I may never know
Why He ever loved me so
That to an old rugged cross He'd go
For who am I?
That to an old rugged cross He'd go, for who am I?
