Being face-to-face with famous people can take your breath away. As a sportswriter, I've interviewed basketball stars Daid Robinson and Avery Johnson. And I've stood in a garage with Joe Gibbs, racecar owner and pro football coach.

A person can easily feel inadequate when talking with bigger-than-life people. We can even develop an awe and respect for athletes and other stars who make us feel insignificant.

But that's nothing when compared to what Isaiah saw "in the year that King Uzziah died" (Isa. 6:1). Isaiah experienced something so magnificent and terrifying that nothing could compare to it__he stood face-to-face with God!

In a vision, God showed Isaiah who He really was. What the prophet saw greatly affected him. He saw God's majesty. He gained a fresh understanding of God's holiness. He saw the contrast between his sinful self and God's perfection. He heard God's call to service, and he answered it.

Today, we can see God in His Word and in the Spirit's work in and through us. And we can commune with Him through prayer. But one day in heaven we will see our Lord face-to-face (1 John 3:2). Now that will take our breath away! __ Dave Branon

*************Today's Bible Reading __ Isaiah 6:1-10***************

1 In the year that King
Uzziah died, I saw the Lord
sitting on a throne, high and
lifted up, and the train of
His robe filled the temple.

2 Above it stood seraphim;
each one had six wings:
with two he covered his
face, with two he covered
his feet, and with two he
flew. 3 And one cried to
another and said: "Holy,
holy, holy is the LORD of
hosts; the whole earth is full
of His glory!" 4 And the
posts of the door were
shaken by the voice of him
who cried out, and the house
was filled with smoke.

5 So I said: "Woe is me, for
I am undone! Becuse I am
a man of unclean lips, and I
dwell in the midst of a
people of unclean lips; for
my eyes have seen the King,
the LORD of hosts."

6 Then one of the seraphim
flew to me, having in his
hand a live coal which he
had taken with the tongs
from the altar. 7 And he
touched my mouth with it,
and said: "Behold, this has
touched your lips; your
iniquity is taken away, and
your sin purged."

8 Also I heard the voice of
the Lord, saying: "Whom
shall I send, and who will go
for Us?" Then I said, "Here
am I! Send me."

9 And He said, "Go, and
tell this people: 'Keep on
hearing, but do not
understand; keep on seeing,
but do not perceive.'

10 Make the heart of this
people dull, and their ears
heavy, and shut their eyes;
lest they see with their eyes,
and hear with their ears, and
understand with their heart,
and return and be healed."

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>INSIGHT<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

"Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His
glory!" (Isa. 6:3). The seraphim worshiped God's holiness. Seraph
means "to burn," suggesting that these angels were on fire with the
zeal of praise. __HDF
