The smell of almond

When I was little, my dad used to take me to fly kites in this area a couple houses away from where we lived back then.
There used to be all these almond trees and he used to scout around for them and crack them open for me.
The few weeks ago we went to a nearby beach and close to that area had some almond trees. So I looked for a decent one on the ground and cracked it open with a rock. I cant tell you how the smell of it brought back so many amazing memories of being a little girl.
For those who dont know what they look like before they are shelled, here is the one i found. Well actually i ate about 10 after this
Then you hit it with somethin
That outer shell has such a distinct smell... its hard to describe. Not that sickeningly sweet almond scent you get at the stores these days.
