self control

Postby Ruthk34 » Sat Jul 07, 2012 11:01 am

It is so hard to keep my self control when it comes to sweets. If I have one I want 5. Thats a big no no cause the sugar goes up then I feel lousy, but I still do it. It's like I'm addicted to sugar I just have to have that fix. I struggle everyday to stay away from it or limit myself. Biggest problem is that it's in the house because of the rest of the family has it. They will even offer it to me. I ask them not to encourage me to eat it. That they need to discourage me. And this is what i see around the house *Pizza* *soda* *MilkShake* *sundae* *cookie* *Chocolate* How do I say no all the time when faced with it?

I need some Self Control if its possible.

Hi Ruth
This is a problem that you will not solve with your current conditions
you said
It's like I'm addicted to sugar I just have to have that fix
.....you are.
You take anyone with any addiction and put it in front of them and even tease them with it.....I'm sorry but I don't
think there would be many to resist.
Do those in your house realize they are playing with your health....or do they care.
I can even understand it being in the house but out of site out of mind and surely do NOT tease you with it
IF this was the first step then yes you would want to create ways that when it attacks you that you can indulge yourself in something that you love that is healthy.

I think you first need someone with knowledge AND authority of this to speak with your family then take the next step

I'm sorry you have to deal with this, addiction is one of satan's strongest tools and he uses it daily to destroy 100s
I pray God will give you the path to follow up out of this addiction

God bless
Cuc

Yes I agree with you that I'm addicted to sugar. The hardest part is that it is everywhere you go and in almost everything you eat. And of course we have to have food to live so I am always confronted with it. As for my family I think they forget about it and mostly don't have an understanding as far as how hard it is. I don't think they can see the whole picture either as far as what diabeties can do to a person. I've seen it first hand because I am a health care worker. People losing their eyesight, kidney failier, heart problems and much more. I think it's like that way of thinking "it won't happen to me" they may not believe that it could happen to me.

time has passed,.. i suppose... anyways..
you need to lay of sugar if your life is dear to you...
find taste in other taste categories,
give your tongue a makeover by squishing blend food in your mouth to taste natural sugar without eating sugary food

that should help...
anyways ... im late..
much love..
