Schizophrenia and Aspergers

Postby Faith_Underfire » Fri Apr 08, 2011 5:50 am

I am writing because it is the perfect place to show two different kinds of disorders at once. See my brother that passed away had Aspergers, which is a type of Autism. He always liked to touch things and sometimes would be paying attention though it seemed like he was off in space, and for some odd reason he only liked touching my hair. (lol) We ended up sharing a room the last four years of his life anyway and he even passed in their, or I guess I can say /here/. A lot of people wonder how I got back into the room the night following the night he died. I don't even know I just forced myself to I guess. The first night we all slept in the living room I remember it well, well sort of.

Anyway I mentioned Schizophrenia and I thought I would talk about myself now. I was hospitalized quite a bit a year after graduating, one time my mom called the Police and had them escort me to the Hospital. I'll tell you what never go to a /Stress Unit/ unless you really have to, maybe it was just my bad experience with them. I am not really sure but I was overmedicated almost to the point of dying from overdose. They had me on over 110 mg of Abilify and I had the Stiff Muscles, confusion, and whatever the heck else. They sent me home on 80 plus miligrams of Abilify, let me tell you it wasn't pretty, I looked like the Hunchback of Notre Dame but with drool falling everywhere. My mom told me not to take as much and I didn't realize I was becoming an addict to the prescription they were giving me. Soon we had a appointment at our local Mental Health to see a Psychiatrist, she weaned me down to 20 mg over time and I did well and even got my liscense. Later I completely got off Abilify altogether and I have a job driving for Mental Health. I got my Job a year before Brian Died and I still have it. I praise God for it although I miss the random calls my brother used to give me while I worked. See I always expected someone to say, "I need this," or "Can you do this for me?" It seemed like when he called it was, "Hey I just did this," and "When you getting home I want to show ya this."

Thank you all for your Time and God bless you all. I hope you all got a picture of my Brother from this and I hope both stories are touching. I have more stories to tell about both Brian and Myself, most likely different threads in different sections.

Your Brother In Christ,
Robert.
[21:23] * %Izar felt better wondering if it was going to last. He however was happy and decided to live in the moment. He was out in the clearing with Harlow, what could be so bad about that? He began to get some energy and began to run some yet stay right by Harlow. As Harlow pointed out a shiny rock he picked it up in his muzzle and began to run around with it as if saying, 'Check out this cool item Harlow and I found.'

Thank you, Robert. That was a kind and thoughtful post.

I look forward to getting to know your (our) brother, and you, better.
I'll be looking for your posts. :)
