Sadly Strange Event
This is an article from Ozark News. I find it very strange. Not just strange but SAD! Was wondering if there was any ties to scripture about this.
LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. -- Two children from Ashland, Missouri are dead on this Independence Day after an incident at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The Missouri Highway Patrol says Alexandra Anderson, 13, and her brother Brayden, 8, were swimming near the 6.5 mile marker in the Gravois Arm of the lake when they were electrocuted.
The Patrol says the "unknown source of electricity" killed the children just after 12 p.m.
"They were swimming out in the water at a private dock as they had probably done many times before and at some point in time they both received a shock," says Sgt. Paul Reinsch. "And at this time, the investigation is trying to determine exactly where that electricity came from."
Several adults at the scene were able to get the children out of the water and perform CPR until medical personnel arrived.
Crews took them to Lake Regional Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.
The Highway Patrol continues to investigate their deaths, and says the source of the electrocution will likely be announced Thursday morning.
"I know they've got several docks there with slides they go down and pumps that pump water onto the slides," adds Sgt. Reinsch. "That could be a possibility."
Troopers say the national news media has been in contact with them, and tell KOLR/KOZL the timing is eerie, considering a similar incident happened on the same day in Tennessee.
The CBS News affiliate, WVLT Knoxville, says a 10-year-old boy died and an 11-year-old was revived near a boat dock in Bean Station, Tenn.

In a body of water the size of a lake it would take a significant source of electricity to cause an electricution. Unless they were extremely close to the source it is highly unlikely that a submersible pump could have generated enough current to kill them. That is an incredibly sad story. My heart goes out to hteir family and friends. Please post the results of the polices findings when they announce them. As far as scriptures goes, I can't think of anyhting that would relate to this as far as the incident goes.

That's what I thought too. Strange that it happened in two different parts of the country on the same day.

I'm an electrical engineer and this happens over and over - many deaths like this every year. Last year there was one within 100 miles of where I am.
You should NEVER, NEVER swim near a dock where there is any kind of electrical power. really you should not swim close to a boat - because they have electrical power.
Except, that you can in saltwater. These deaths do not occur in seawater.
The body has salt in it. Fresh water is not a good conductor - but a person is a relatively good conductor. So, if there is a short in the water - something that is live in the water - the current will flow through a person very readily. Many docks have outlets on them, and many of these were not put in properly. Many times even when they were initially, people will jury rig them and make them work when the protection has blown them.
Also, boats can have problems. Electrical problems that cause parts of the hull to become charged.
There are so many sources of problems that the best answer is to not swim around boats or docks with any sort of electrical power. By the time you know there is a problem it is probably too late.
