I don't know. maybe it's just me, but

....I was walking through the house the other evening, just in time to catch the last part of the local ABC News affiliate stations airing a report on a small, injured dog. A young woman in the report was saying how much she hoped the dog would get the help it needed, to save it from losing it's life. The news reporter went on to say that there had been numerous calls from viewers, who had set up a fund to pay for the veterinary expenses. (this report was in the first third of the broadcast, even before the weather)
Flash backwards a few months, to a national TV commercial featuring Sarah McLachlan, with "In The Arms of the Angels" playing in the background. The commercial informs us that one animal per hour is abused in BC, 3,000 were rescued, and for some, it was too late. Ms McLachlan begins by asking if we would be an angel for the homeless animals, and that donating $18.00/day would help them find shelter.
On any given day, about 200,000 children in the U.S. find themselves homeless, and out these schoolage children, half experience anxiety, depression, or withdrawal from school, compared to 18% non-homeless.
Although the cost to house a homeless animal is far below the cost to house a homeless child, look at the future leaders and scholars we could be blessed with if we only gave them the chance for a better future.
I'm not really sure what this says about our society, but it truly pains my heart, and I don't see any biblical basis for this order of priority.

Oh I feel the same! It totally breaks my heart to see how America has it's priorities soooo turned around! But... as we look into the End Times... it is sooo Biblical... it should really put the fear in the ones who KNOW the TRUTH and turn their backs on GOD.

I'm not against helping hurting animals and I'm sure you are not either... it is just the idea that we have starving children HERE in AMERICA who could use not only the help financially but just to FILL LOVE from someone!

Thanks for sharing you thoughts.. hope more and more people read it and think about what they can do to start somewhere. I am sending a small amount but what I can afford to FEED THE CHILDREN... it's a start!

Love in Christ,

This might be a hard "pill" to swallow ... i know it shocked me when i read it:

"The increase in single parent families -- mostly due to unwed motherhood in the past few decades -- accounts for virtually all of the increase in child poverty since 1970." ~ Isabelle Sawhill, congressional testimony, 1999

and

"When the family collapses, it is the children that are usually damaged. When it happens on a massive scale, the community itself is crippled." President Lyndon B. Johnson in what he called his, "greatest civil rights speech"

we have caused the collapse of family; only we can fix it ... its time.

to make a difference we have adopted two children. we raise our children to take care of the weakest of society that "they" can ... they volunteer at the SPCA.

... 1 stone, 2 birds!!
