Under His Wings

Psalm 91:4
He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
NKJV
“When you are covered by His wings, it can get pretty dark.”
(Corrie ten Boom)
If you know me, then you know that I have been home bound with a disorder called Dysautonomia for over 2 1/2 years. It will be 3 years in July. Physically it is hard of course....I am sick. But mentally, emotionally, and spiritually it is much harder because I am isolated from the rest of the world. I cannot go to school, or have a job, or go to church, or even go out and do things with my friends... I spend the majority of my time alone, stuck in a house that has become my prison. And I don't know why God is allowing this to happen to me, but one of the wonderful possibilities is that He is protecting me from something. Here at home I am protected from the rest of the world. Perhaps if God had not allowed me to be put here in this place of isolation, i would have have gotten mixed up with the wrong crowd at school... I would have gotten into an accident, or gotten into drugs. Perhaps i would have simply wandered away from Him, or chosen to pursue a career that wasn't part of His plan... I don't know! But If its true that God has me here in this awful place in my life to protect me, then its also true what Corrie ten Boom said. "When you are covered by His wings, it can get pretty dark."
It is hard being in this place right now. Its hard being sick, its hard being alone all the time, its hard not being able to go out and do the normal things that people do. This house has become my prison, and its true that when God is sheltering you from something, it can get really uncomfortable.
So If you find yourself in a dark place, don't question God's love for you. Remember that it just might mean at that moment God is covering you with His wings.
