Everyone sleeps... well almost everyone.
Psalms 121:1-4
1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills —
From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber .
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
NKJV
1 Kings 18:26-29
26 So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, "O Baal, hear us!" But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made.
27 And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, "Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened." 28 So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them. 29 And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.
NKJV
Elijah, the servant of God, mocked the prophets of Baal when they cried out to their god and there was no reply. They even resorted to cutting themselves until their blood ran down their bodies, they prayed, they shouted and cried, they probably beat their chests. And there was no answer. So Elijah taunted them saying, perhaps your god is too busy to pay attention to you. Perhaps he has gone on a journey, a little vacation because he is so sick of dealing with your problems. Or perhaps, he is just sleeping.
Aren't you so grateful that the God we serve does not slumber? That He does not become too busy to deal with our problems, or that He does not take vacations because He gets sick of us. Its true that sometimes God's timing is not our timing, and sometimes because He has our best interest at heart, we might not always get what we want. But our God is always awake, alert, all seeing, all knowing. He does not sleep, take vacations, or even a coffee break from watching over us and attending to us, His children. He sees every tear you shed, every hardship and difficult situation you face, He doesn't miss a single one.
Give thanks to Him today for His incredible ability to attend to us every moment of every day without needing a break! I don't know about you, but I'm not capable of that. And pray as often as you see the opportunity... He will not become annoyed with you because of your constant prayers. He will cherish them!
*Lord thank you for all that you do for me, even when i sleep, you stay awake to watch over me."
