Sticks and Stones
Psalms 141:3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. NKJV
Your mouth is one of wierdest parts of your body.
On average the mouth will produce 10,000 gallons of spit over an entire life time, that's enough to fill a giant swimming pool.
Just like we all have unique finger prints, we also have unique tongue prints.
More than 300 types of bacteria make up dental plaque!
At birth the only fully developed organ is the tongue.
When you were a baby, you had lots of taste buds on the roof and sides of your mouth, not just on your tongue.... And you still have a few on the roof of your mouth.
Smoking and radiation can cause taste disorders. Also smokers are 3 times more likely to loose their teeth
The average American will spend 38 1/2 days just brushing their teeth over a lifetime.
Most of the time girls have more taste buds than boys.
Can you imagine tasting things through your feet? Insects do! Also fish can taste with their tails and fins as well as their mouth.
The average woman smiles 62 times a day, but the average man only smiles 8 times a day. That's just sad guys, if you want to make a woman happy.... SMILE
Children laugh on average 400 times a day, but adults only laugh 15 times a day. (smiling being separate from laughing) Alright alright that's even worse. I think they should invent "tickle therapy."
But the most important fact is that on average a person speaks anywhere from 16,000 to 50,000 words a day.
How do you use your words? Do you use them to share the love of Jesus Christ? To encourage others, and build them up, or to tear them down? Do you use them to DEMAND things from others, as if you are better or more important than them, or do you ask them politely with humility? Do you use them to tell the truth, or to lie, cheat, and steal, and rob others of what is rightfully there's? Do you use them to gossip, to spread rumors, or to tell secrets that were not yours to tell? Do you use them to show honor to others, or to show honor to yourself? Whoever said "sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me" was very wrong. Works can hurt and wound so deeply, that the only one who can undo the damage is God. They can even drive someone to suicide. Your words are serious, they are important, they will have an impact on other people's lives. THINK before you SPEAK.... If necessary, PRAY before you speak.
*God please guard my mouth today, let me use my words for good, not evil... showing love, and wisdom, and honor with every sentence i speak. Do not let me use words for my own selfish reasons, convict my heart so that i would say what is good, and pure, and profitable, or say nothing at all. amen*

Re: Sticks and Stones
I struggle with it too, yesterday after i posted i snapped at my dad at least 3 times... and i felt so guilty and like a hypocrite! : (
You are right it is much easier to type than speak, because if you realize you said something you shouldn't have, you can always hit delete. But you can't do that when you talk.
Just keep praying.
