tricky ...these little things called emotions

Postby storm » Sun Jan 06, 2008 5:09 am

why is it that emotions are such tricky things.....

just when you think you got them under control.....they erupt and put all your best intentions in the trash can......

we hurt people andsay thing s that we dontreallymean......we throw things...(well i do).... we behave like kids having tamtrums.......

all because we lose control of these things called emotions.....

Job was so cool calm and collected while all around him was losing it and saying things.......maybe i should learn from him........im trying .

*hug* Stormie

We are human, and grown up so conditioned to acting on our emotions, many times not thinking before we act or speak. Ah, what drama, huh? Was so glad to see you post your thoughts here bro. You've heard from Oasis and others about the power of renewing your mind (Romans 12:2). For me it has become a crucial ingredient to my walk particular to leashing my emotions. And Job is a very good example of someone in the Bible who showed emo control despite the chaos in his life. I'm assuming you are reading the Book of Job if not I would recommend it :)

Hang in bro... half the battle is identify and acknowledging your struggles... now with God's continued love and guidance, you'll continue to learn.

I'm so glad you here as I know others feel the same... luv ya

Hey storm.
man...i feel the same way about our emos. Its frustrating!! One day I finally think I'm okay... then I have TWO good days in a row... then... BAM. Back at square one because something triggered me and stirred up all my emotions again.
My life is never dull with the roller coaster I ride every day.

You aren't alone. Just keep inching forward. Falls are gonna happen. We just have to expect them.

Storm, I understand how tricky emotions can be. I've been taught to hide my emotions, not let them show. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed from keeping everything inside, that it's like a dam busting, and it all comes flowing out at once. I can cry for hours straight sometimes, just because I've held so much in for so long. Controlling our emotions is never easy, but it does get easier with Jesus helping us back up.

luv ya stormie *hug*

triggers

Postby flutemusic67 » Thu Jan 10, 2008 4:32 pm

Heya Storm! You are not alone. I am sure you know all about the CCCC study, so I won't preach on that lol. But it made me realize triggers. I have worked through so many of them. Actually, my biggest trigger is at college with my savings account. ;) That kid knows how to push my buttons.

There are two tricks I use as well as what I learned from Oasis. One is asking myself before reacting "What would Jesus do?". We have all heard this hundreds of times. The other is saying to myself, when faced with the triggers or in a bad mood, "Be courteous, kind, and forgiving" over and over again. It's from an old Steve Martin song. Don't ask, it works for me.

Live, love, and laugh Jesus!

Love ya, bro.
