Hi All,
Blessings!
Stir it up! Whew! Glory! Stir it up! Have you ever noticed how much feelings play a part in your life? Mad, glad, sad, those roller coaster emotions that more often than not seem to dictate to us what our spiritual life is about at a give time.
Well, I ain't going to pray today because I don't feel like it. Not going to read my Bible because I don't feel like it. Not going to church because I just don't feel like it. Not going to forgive so and so because I just don't feel like it. Ain't going to smile because I just don't feel like it.
But you know, feelings are choices. And I believe more often than not we can overcome the negative ones by changing how we view them and how we act toward them instead of our circumstances.
First of all we need to change how we view them. Lets use depression as an example. We know that when our head feels as though it is surrounded by a dark cloud depression is present. Depression is a bad thing. It is stifling. It is a thief! It is a robber! It takes away our joy and happiness...oh? As a matter of fact, when depression is present, is love, joy, peace, kindness, meekness, faith,....well gee whiz? Is there anything spiritual of the Holy Spirit present when depression is? I think not!
So then the answer to overcoming such darkness, the darkness of wrong feelings, bad emotions, is to first recognize them for what they are. Bad!
Ok, Mr. Bad Emotion comes knocking at my door. I recognize it for what it is. Now what? Well, now I have to attack it spiritually. I have to take action against it. It doesn't belong to me. I need to use my will against it. I need to stir up my spirit against it. I need to beat it over the head with the Word of God. I need to chase it out the door and down the street.
I hate depression! I want to be happy! I want to be filled with joy! I am a blessed man! I will walk in love and power and a sound mind! I am blessed when I come out and go in! I am above, not below, the head, not the tail! Everything I put my hand to is blessed! And depression! You old stinking devil you, I am blessed to run you off because that is what I putting my hand to right now!
I don't know quite what it is, but there is something about beating up on the devil that makes me happy. We get victory over bad emotions by stirring up our spirit to war against them.
Blessings!
