hi heather
nice to meet you sis
we should always go back to God's Word to find our answers because His Word contains truth.
when i was learning to pray, i studied the section where Jesus taught His disciples to pray (luke 11). Jesus specifically said, "when you pray, pray like this: our father in heaven ... this means the God who is in heaven ... Jesus didn't say to pray to "Himself" ... He specifically addresses God as "our" father ... meaning that God is the father of Jesus also.
Jesus opened up the way back for us to pray directly to God ... for us to go bodly into the sanctuary of God and to commune with God in the Holy of Holies ... we claim the power of Jesus by invoking His name
to get there. i would not pray TO Jesus ... but rather acknowledge and thank Him that He made it possible for me to go directly to God.
the only examples i can find of prayer in the Word is people praying through Jesus not to Him.
