DAILY Bread

Postby lizzie » Sun Apr 11, 2010 12:25 pm

Been considering the following scriptures:

Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.

Exodus 16:4 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.

Matthew 6:11 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Do you see the above three scriptures as tying in together to give a specific message? And if so, what do they say to you?

Also what does your Daily Bread usually consist of?

Thanks for sharing *GroupHug*

Hey Lizzie

Good "topic" , and worthy of discussion .

First thing came to my mind , after reading the post was the "I AM" . (as a summarizaton) .

I AM , is our Lord's answer to Moses's asking of His name and , the "I AM" being in present tense , gives me the idea that our Lord is with us TODAY ,"and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day," .... Last Supper - This My body - ...

Each morning , upon awakening , I have to have "New Bread" which is sufficient enough to carry me through today and I need to do that EVERYDAY .

TODAY , (make a decision) to give us our bread on a daily basis , is the way I interpret 'Give us this day our daily bread.

One Day at a Time .

Yesterday's Grace , was sufficient for yesterday ... tomorrows Grace will only be sufficient for TOMORROW , I need Grace today to carry me through today .

In Christ , our Lord

my daily portion of Grace amen *Pray* and it does come daily, because when I find myself wondering how im gonna get thru the next day it is almost always overwhelming. And that is because i have enough for today only and must trust that when tomorrow comes, God is gonna give me what I need to get through each moment as it comes.

that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.

Great is thy faithfulness

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
there is no shadow of turning with thee;
thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
as thou hast been thou forever will be.

Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
all I have needed thy hand hath provided;
great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

hey lizzers great question; i DO see them as tying together. how did you link them??

to me it means that God's grace/provision is eternal; He puts in our terms of time: yesterday, today, tomorrow, so that we can wrap our heads around it. God's provisions are always and forever regardless of day month or year .... He doesn't want us to WORRY. all we need to do to experience all of His provision is to choose to step into it and walk in it.

thats why i like what you said vahn:
I AM , is our Lord's answer to Moses's asking of His name and , the "I AM" being in present tense

present tense!

every morning i read and pray ... pray so hard that MY will and plans be broken and that they be shaped to be agreeable to His; the more mine come online with His, the more full i am with bread!! ... "taste of the Lord and see that He is good!!"

~~~~~~~
what about you sis? how do you see them linking and what's your daily bread consist of?
Daily Bread
Good morning Lizzie! All!
*AngelYellow*
Blessings!
First of all, thanks for the Easter comment. Loved it!
Am writing you this morning about the translation you posted of the scripture,
Exodus 16:4 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.
Just wanted to point out that while manna is one focus of the passage, keeping the sabbath is the other. Interestingly enough, the gathering of the manna on a Friday is good for two days, both a Friday and a Saturday, the 6th and 7th days. So what is set apart on the 6th day is also good on the 7th. What is gathered on the 6th day is a double portion.
So the DOUBLE PORTION IS FOR THOSE ALIVE ON THE 6TH DAY! We get the double portion of the Word of God. Hallelujah! Let us be gathering the Word of God each morning! We get the double portion! Ain't gonna be nothin' left over to gather on the Lord's day of rest because He' given it all to us today! Whew! Glory!
Love ya All! Saint701.
It is most certainly far better to die in faith believing, than it is to live in unbelief.
God is sooo awesome that He gives us a day to totally rest; whats interesting is that now, in our time, we don't see the "rot and maggots" from the disobedience; yes, we see it manifest in certain ways ... but for the most part we don't see the "inner man's" consequences.
