March 9 - Amid a Crowd of Paltry Things

Postby Sylvia » Tue Mar 09, 2010 10:22 am

"...in much patience, in afflictions,, in necessities, in distresses."
(2 Corinthians 6:4)

"It takes Almighty grace to take the next step when there is no vision and no spectator-the next step in devotion, the next step in your study, in your reading, in your kitchen; the next step on your duty, when there is no vision from God, no enthusiasm and no spectator. It takes far more of the grace of God, far more conscious drawing upon God to take that step, than it does to preach the Gospel.
Every Christian has to partake of what was the essence of the Incarnation, he must bring the thing down into flesh and blood actualities and work it out through the finger tips. We flag when there is no vision, no uplift, but just the common round, the trivial task. The thing that tells in the long run for God and for men is the steady persevering work in the unseen, and the only way to keep the life uncrushed is to live looking to God. Ask God to keep the eyes of your spirit open to the Risen Christ, and it will be impossible for drudgery to dampen you. Continually get away from pettiness and paltriness of mind and thought out into the thirteenth chapter of St John's Gospel. (Oswald Chambers)

Personal Note:
Since my hubby died and the diagnoses of cancer my daughter recommended this book "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers. Written in 1935, long before I was even born! rofl
But God has used it in dealing with my heart. My anger toward God for taking my hubby, and believe it or not wishing the cancer was worse so I could go home to be with Jesus, my hubby and my Mom and Dad.
But just like Oswald Chambers keeps telling me in this book, we must persevere even when there is no immediate answers from God. He has a plan and we must keep our hearts and minds on the Risen Christ Jesus.
Luv You All

Hello Sylvia *hug*

Thank you for sharing -- the message is awesome.

It reminds me also of one of the message in the 10th Chapter of I Corinthians, and specifically verse 24.

I Corinthians 10:24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.

It is so easy in time of great challenge to look only at our situation and not see what others are going through and how we may be used of God to lessen their load.

Just as the Jordan did not slow it's rushing waters until the Iraelites stepped into it, by faith, so goes our own walk at times, where we can't hear or see or receive until we step out in faith.

We walk by faith, not by sight.

Wooooohooooooo!!! Thank you, Sylvia. Thank You Holy Spirit.

You continue in my prayers. God's blessed will be done.

Love,
Mack
