There once was a puppy
There once was a puppy.
She had food and shelter but the mommy in the house used to yell a lot. And the daddy would yell and hit her, especially if he was tired and had been drinking.
One day, the daddy came home and started to hit the puppy. She didn't know what she did to make the daddy so mad. So when one of the children came in, she ran out the open door, not stopping or even looking back.
The puppy wandered around for days. She was cold, hungry and scared but not willing to try to find her way back to that house. She was afraid of people and would hide when anyone tried to come near her. Finally someone caught her and brought her to the pound.
The pound wasn't bad. There were four walls surrounding her. She was warm and well fed. People would come to adopt puppies but she would always hide, thinking she was safe behind her walls.
She would see the other puppies going to new homes and started to remember the children that used to love and play with her. She started to miss that, thinking maybe it wouldn't be bad to go to a new family. But the people would look at her and walk away. See, the puppy didn't know that she didn't look like she wanted to be adopted. She would keep her head down and her tail between her legs. She didn't realize that made her unapproachable.
One day, someone different came in. When he came up to the puppy's kennel, he smiled at the puppy. The puppy could feel the love coming out of him. She couldn't help but come forward, reaching for the hand that was outstretched. She pulled back when the hand moved but it was only to lovingly scratch the puppy behind her ear. Oh, how she loves that. The gentle man picked the puppy up and took her home.
There were two others beside the gentle man at her new home. One taught her manners, guiding and retraining her. The other...oh the other. All she wanted to do was sit at his feet, being content there, willing to do anything for him. They all treated the puppy kindly and with so much love and patience that the puppy started coming out of the protective shell that she put around herself. Once she did, she knew a new joy that she never had before. A life without fear.
A life with the trust of God the Father, love of Jesus, His son and the guidance of Holy Spirit.

It is better to light a candle then curse the darkness

I told my sister that God gave me a story about a puppy and she wanted to hear it so I sent it to her. Well, she sent it to all her friends so now the puppy is in cyber space
Be interesting if I get it back some day
