Doing things differently...
The main thing that I would strongly encourage anyone in a relationship with a spouse, fiance, bf... affected by sexual sinning, or addiction, is for You to find a support group of people in the same situation. What I have seen happen throughout the support groups I have belonged to, is the we get the help, work through our problems, heal, and move ahead. The other partner usually ends up moving much slower, if not getting stuck, through recovery. It has been very hard to live this...over 4yrs. now, and my wife is just starting to really deal with it all. The husbands I have been in support groups with whose spouses went to support groups were soo much healthier, and their relationships fared far better for it.
Secondly, being that we have pretty much destroyed any chance of trust from our partners, it makes it very difficult to share where we have gotten in our recovery. I guess that the only other way I would hope our spouses can deal with the trust issue, is to have faith that He is working through us, to heal us and make us new again. Sometimes it has to be hard to see any progress through all the pain, and with us, it's the small changes that eventually add up to a bigger recovery.
GBU All,
