Just a word ... or two

With the "buzz" going around about "orphaned forums" and some of them being canned for lack of traffic , doing my part trafficking this one , for it is a very important one for me , because the way I see it , alcoholism / drug addiction , and spirituality go hand in hand , and cant have one without the other .
Now , some might say and in fact had said , "How dare you connect spirituality with alcoholism !" . Don't worry , I had taken a lot of lumps on my head for making statements like that , but the thing is , I'm still here , still sober , and to toss the "lump" back , 1) so is this forum and 2) What is a blog on alcoholism doing in a Christian web site ? Now , are we ready to talk ? Or do you need some time to recuperate from your "lump" first .

Above all else , us Christians suffer from a spiritual malady , from which the only time we completely recover from is when we get to meet our Father face to face and He opens this Book of His and says "Ah , its you , its about time you got here !" , Paul didn't ask us to finish the race for nothing .
"Now , you started with alcoholism , but taking pot shots at Christians , by putting them in the same category as "sufferers" from a malady , and a spiritual one at that !" you might say , and I hope you do .

Well , for starters , I'm the type that looks for similarities rather than differences , which by the way is , from my point of view , where others fail to see the similarities because they're too busy looking for differences , and hence go on saying things like "But we , don't go putting evil in a liquid form in our system , just to act like fools , we put Jesus in our system !" and do you know what the alcoholic does hearing such a folly ? He LAUGHS ! , as if it was the only joke he'd heard in a long time and turn around and say something to the effect of , "Did you turn the tube on first before picking up your Bible when you got home ? " or better yet "Did you pick up the Bible at all first , before doing anything else when you got home !" , No , we had to "take care" of the more "important" stuff first right ?

What's the difference between , upon coming home , to turn on Christian music and reaching for the bottle first thing ? Answer , NONE . Similarities ? They both depending on external means to sooth the soul .

Here's another one , "What's the difference between reaching for the microwave or the booze cabinet ? .... One is HUNGRY the other THIRSTY ... for the Spirit . Because when the mind is too bz with the tummy or the taste buds or the physic , cannot fully pay attention to what the Sprit is saying now can it ?
Now lets add anything to this list that takes precedence , i.e., I got to do this before I can sit down and feed my soul with the WORD . Let me see romance , fantasy , sex , food , ..... nah ... I think I'll stop here , there's not enough room in my hard drive or memory to list them all , and I got 40 gigs of memory !

Oh , I thought maybe I'll toss this one , just for the sake of pleasing the "difference mongers" , The "others" have aaalllll this other stuff they go to before anything , the alcoholic ? Just ONE , the bottle !!

Can we keep this forum ????? please ? please ?

In Christ , our Lord

We all have our sources of comfort.

If one chose to find comfort in none other but the Holy Spirit they would be prepared for a day when/if they have nothing to lean on but the Holy Spirit.

Amen Bro.
It takes one to know one. Amen?
Even though we are sober today, we still have to deal with our thinking on a daily basis.
Our thinking is not like "a normal persons".
This is why we need each other.
I'm thankful that God seen fit to save a drunk such as me. He knew I needed Him and if it wasn't for Him; I wouldn't be here today.
I'm not much but I am here for all of you!!

Luv Ya
