It's not your fault

This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

It's not your fault

Often people say they deserved what they got. It is very sad. We all have sin in us, but there is nothing that we do or can do to make another person hurt us. Just as you are held accountable for your own actions, your abuser is accountable for theirs.

We know, for a fact, that the behavior is the abusers choice. Here are some reasons why we know this.

1) They do not batter other individuals. When they ask their boss for time off and are not allowed, do they hit their boss or spew horrible words at them? No. If a gas attendant spills gas on the side of the car, do they yell at them? No. They wait until there aren't any witnesses and take it out on you.

2) If someone asked you, "Can they stop hurting you when the phone rings or when a police officer comes to the door?" you can say yes, right? Most of the time when the police show up, the abuser is looking calm, cool and collected. You are the one looking hysterical or out of sorts. If the abuser were really "out of control" or "in a rage", they wouldn't be able stop themselves when it's in their best interest to do so.

3) The abuser hits you where the scars or bruises don't show. If they were "out of control" or "in a rage", they wouldn't be able to think enough to make sure the blows were hidden.

Psalm 39:7 And now, Lord, what wait I for? My hope is in Thee.

God bless and protect everyone.

My resolution for today, next month, and years to come is to be further from the world and closer to the Word.
