Christianity Oasis Forum

This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

How much are you willing to discipline yourself and work toward God's healing in your life?

What to do we "really "want?

Postby realtmg » Sat Jun 23, 2007 9:16 am

I used to hurt emotionally so bad that I covered my feeling with drugs , alcohol , and gambling. I even tried to commit suicide by putting a gun to my body and pulling the trigger. I was miserable. I didn't think I could go another day. I was confused, hurt and felt that no one knew my pain. I was even angry at God. Through years of pain and agony, I realized that I HAD to do something. I HAD to want to get better. To have a little peace.
I come here not as a authority, but as a vessel that God chose to be here and help some. And I even feel that I do not help much. Is this Satan trying to make me quit trying and making me feel I'm not the person for this? Sure it is. It bothers me though. But I know God is in control and even though I am not very smart, He can take me and use me to help at least one.. One day will come when someone who is more qualified will take my place. But until then, I am here for to be a friend to all. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO OR DONE. I asked, "What do you really want?" I got better when I quit hiding from people and started sharing. I hated to open myself up but I hurt so much I was willing to do anything for relief. It didn't come easy. I had to study, pray, and share. It required work on my part. It required me to listen and be open to suggestions. Then I began to heal. Know what? I'm still healing. But now I know that if I trust and have patience through the bad times, He answers and provides. We are here for each other. I luv you people. *BigH

Hey Real, we all take it one day at a time bro. Myself included. I use to think and try to leave my past in the past. But I have found out that making it through my past with the help of Jesus can help others, we just have to let them know. I think you do a great job with your sharings.

Oh yeah and I like what you say, Keep it simple. God bless you bro, YIC Tres

Realtmg....keep up the good work for the Lord. He has given you a task; he will let you know when you have completed it. Listen not to the devil, but continue to share with others.....your pain, but also your joy. You are such a blessing to so many of us.

In addition to........,

As I was looking through the Forums this morning and came across this one , I realized I probably titled it wrong. Oh me. At any rate, as we begin to search for God, we will find that God's will contains peace and security. Sometimes it requires faith and patience. People ask me what God's will for me is or how do we know what God's will is. Seek Him and it will be revealed little by little. Do what is right and keep seeking. Sometimes it will come slowly , sometimes quickly. He will show you if you will seek Him and talk to Him. I have found out that if I am honest and I put Him first in my life, that struggles become easier only lasting for a season. The answer is always in His word, if I will only seek to find it. If I set my affections on things above and not on things on earth, life has more meaning. Its a daily struggle to keep "self" out of the way. I remember that there are spiritual forces at work cause the clock is clicking. Jesus is coming soon my friends. Be all we can be for Him. Luv ya. ;)

Amy

Postby realtmg » Tue Jul 17, 2007 9:25 am

Yes my friend there is hope. A hope in a Living God. He can and will make you whole piece by piece. It requires seeking Him with all your heart and applying God's Word each day. We have to set our affections on things above. We look for the day when He comes for us. Until then, we have to learn how to live and deal with issues of life. We have to fix our eyes on Him and not go by our feelings. Faith is the foundation. I am here not because I have it together, but because He has shown me the way to a better life. I try my best to be open and real to share what is going on with me because I know some do relate with me. I have to live in Today, forgetting and not dwell on the past.
Amy, all Christians have problems. The problems I encounter now are but character building stepping stones. We all are given a choice as how to respond to our circumstances. I knew down deep in my heart that Christ came so that I may have life more abundantly. So I decided that I had hurt bad enough and began to seek His will for me. I knew that He did not want me to be unhappy. We have to be honest with ourselves as well as with others. He provides us people who will help us over the hump when we are down. I have been reading your post in the Forums and He will honor your effort. Be patient and allow Him to work. Thank you for sharing and remember that the staff and I are here for you. We only seek to give God praise and honor and to help people get back on the right road. May God give you peace and reveal His wisdom to you each day as you come here to learn and share. Luv ya. What do you really want

Postby reals_mom » Wed Jul 18, 2007 5:13 pm

Sometimes it is really hard to know what we really want. We have to wait on the Lord and ask for wisdom to see what he has in store for us.
"So I say unto you, Ask and it shall be given to you, Seek and you shall find, Knock and it shall be opened to you. Luke 11:9 *JesusSign*

Real
Thank you for your honesty. So many times we sit in church and think we are the only ones with the problems. we are the only ones who have made mistakes. It isn't until we open up to others that we find out we all have made mistakes and we all have problems.
A friend gave me this verse recently: 2 Corins 1:3&4
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any afflication with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."
That I think is what it is all about.
