This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

day 1

Postby goldieluvs » Sun Jan 23, 2011 9:51 am

ok well there are lots of diff addictions (meaning stuff we r addicted to) well......... today is gonna be my first day without cigarettes. I am praying God gives me strength to succeed, not withdraw too bad (meaning not to snap at people, tho i fully expect the headache for a few days) Am praying i don't get sick as a result as last time i quit i managed to stay quit for a few months and tho it was tough i remember three weeks after i stopped i got really sick and ended up out of work for a couple days. It is not out of a strong will on my part to quit. It has been brought about by some financial choices i made (though i DO think it is sad that i work all month long and don't even have 100.00 to spend on anything beyond necessities and bills.)... then i am reminded that whatever i do.... do it for the Lord. Now i do have overdraft protection but its three more weeks til i get paid and no groceries and little gas,,, so again this month i will be going into the hole.... BUT am not going into the hole for cigarettes. And am reminded whatever i do.... do it for the Lord.

Now... some may see this post and think, wow ok out of all these addictions that wreak such havoc on people's lives how can cigarettes possibly measure up??? well i don't really have an answer for that one... but i am fully aware it is an addiction. And one that i will not be able to stop without God's help.

Sooo, am asking for prayers for me to turn to God instead...

luv u all

I don't have the answer for it either , but ... we both do have an answer for the solution don't we ? ... Our experiences .

In May , God willing , instead of a drink or a drug , I will be picking up a 12 year medallion ... but today I am celebrating 5 weeks without cigs myself ... So , go figure ... how does it measure up ?

Anyone with answer I would love to hear it as well .

Luv ya , keep up the good work Goldie , I know if I can do it ... anyone can !!
