I too have been called

I currently work full time (even on weekends) and go to school so it does not leave much time for fellowship. I have been going to church on Wednesday nights. During the summer, our church takes a break from Wednesday night classes.
I had been searching for a Christian Women's Book Club but I was not interested in the selections they had chosen. I kept feeling this stirring that I should start my own group. However, I am so limited on time due to homework.
I went to church one Sunday night. The message was on faith. The pastor started talking about God is calling someone to step out and go to the next level. I knew he was talking to me and so I have started getting the material together.
The first meeting is set for July 14th. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. However, I know it is going to be awesome!

I am starting out with "Captivating" by John & Stasi Eldredge. So far, no new members. I just started advertising and am asking for prayer to guide and protect the ministry.
Thank you for asking.
God Bless,
Sister Deb

Oh I love that book. I read it once a long time ago. I need to read it again. I wonder if you could do a chat room study on this. I would sure love to attend if I can.

Greetings followers of Christ! Have been called by to do several things at various times in life. One really important one was when the Spirit literally turned me around in the opposite direction from the way I was going. He spoke, "you go ahead and do what it was you were going to do!", which was to join the Air Force. I did and God used me to be a voice and a military official and recruited for the national security agency. Have served several years and I still think God selected me because I was actually willing to do exactly what He told me to do during my 5 year duties during the critical time of the cold war and the near nuclear travesty we came very close to experiencing in 1983 in West Germany. The wall came down, the Russians are converting to christianity (or at least, it is becoming the popular thing to believe in in the former Soviet Union. In this way we were supposed to all win the cold war (at least until the next really big war because we knew back in the 80's that Iran and Iraq were going to cause trouble for us. With God as our leader and commander we are guaranteed that we will be within His will if we simply ask Him to guide us in a real speaking relationship with the Lord where He will speak outloud or to our hearts (like God told Job when His friends were criticising him, "I speak in many ways to man, not just a few.") If we all really listen and do what God tells us what to do, this country will not be condemned to failure which it is now. We simply cannot run a country with as much to stake as there is nowadays without God. We simply all are going to have to make up our minds who we serve, God or man! I chose God, didn't you? I hope!

It is music to my ears when I hear of someone surrendering to do His will. Trying times will come but faith will overcome that.I am glad you shared this as you will be blessed in different ways. Not an easy job; but well worth in the end. Stay prayed up and we are here if you need us.
GBU!

It is scary the things I have been called to do. I came to this website researching Prophets. I've read some stuff about what prophets do and how to identify them. I'm afraid and also very excited about what he has called me to do. I here have not really heard from a prophet from my generation, so I questioned if we had any. Well, I know we do. Does any one doubt? I cannot doubt that there are prophets in my generation, because my Lord is said that I was willing. He has been telling me who I am, and I know that I am called. I cannot deny that there are prophets in my generation, because I would be denying my own existence. I hear him speak, but sometimes I cannot tell if its him or myself. However, he has shown me who I am, I have lifted others in my church and gave them hope and power. I have prophesied and even set free one of my friends from bondage. I told a man in my church who believed in full healing and was dying from severe cancer that he would be completely healed the very day they thought he would die.
I know I have a calling, and I have seen the Lord in action. I cannot always tell what is prophecy, but know this brothers: Christ has called each of us and has laid upon our hearts what must be done. As has been said in the parable of the Talents, he will give you a gift and an opportunity to use it. If you use it just one time, he will give you another opportunity and lift you up for it. All will know the Lord you serve and you will be known as a child of God. Keep using your gift and use it generously, even to those who persecute you. No greater blessing can be given than to those who bless their enemies. I tell you the truth, the Lord has given each of you an instrument fitted perfectly for you, and not everyone who reads this will use it. I encourage all of you to use this instrument for you will be harder than steel when others around you begin to fall apart.

I am glad that we have people which have the gift of prophesying in these days of spiritual dryness and famine. I know lying in the emergency room having a massive coronary and told by the doctor attending that they had done all they could and I was going to die, when a beautiful nurse came in and told me that my time had not come yet and not to worry. She placed her hand on my arm and so lovingly told me it was not my time yet and sure enough, the experimental drug they gave me to take in desperation or a healing touch from an angel, I am not sure. I was really pumped full of morphine so that adds to the uncertainty of what transpired, as I was later told there was no nurse in the e.r. that did any such thing. They were pleased to hear of it though, it made them wonder. Gave me hope, and got my heart beating fast enough to live. We dont always need to know what our gifts from God entail totally, but only that we serve The Holy Spirit and God when we do the will of the Spirit and that is what is meaningful in life. All else pales. Thank you for serving your Lord by doing the will of God in whatever form and way He wills. Surendering our will to God is not only pleasing to God he can bless us more abundantly and give us what He really wants us to have in life. Oh, but so easy to think of, and so hard to do sometimes. I am in the middle of a discussion with a pastor which believes that the speaking in tongues was pretty much done away with when Paul told the church that when the church was young it did things like a child. Since the word was written, there was no reason why speaking in tongues was necessary and that gift was no longer needed. That it was time for the church to put that aside and move on with other gifts which needed to be used. And remember it is not our gifts that make us do important things it is the Spirit behind whatever we do which can change a life, save a soul. Our gifts may change and we also have more than one gift. Everyone is vital to the overall working of the community we are in God's Kingdom. We are a part of that KIngdom, now, thanks to what Jesus did on that cross and we owe Him our love and devotion for what He did for us. He set us free!!!
