Understanding the Spirit of God; Spirit 1 of 7

As we noted in our first article each Spirit of God has a set of attributes peculiar to that Spirit. Now we come to the first Spirit of the 7 Spirits of God, the Spirit of the Lord. To begin with let us ask these questions. What is the name of the Spirit of our God? What kind of role does the Spirit of the Lord wish to play in our lives? What kind of living being is He? What are His attributes?
First of all, Jesus called Him “My Father,” thus awarding Him an authoritative role over all of the living, and a personality which is defined from within His body and a soul. As the Father of our Lord we understand the kind of relationship a father should have with his children and what the bond between them should be like. More importantly, we see through Jesus how to understand the kind of relationship The Spirit of the Lord our God, our Heavenly Dad desires to have with us. Through Jesus we see all of the goodness of God as He watches over us, directing us from within to carry out His will among His people, making himself manifest in their lives by healing the sick and raising the dead.
Through Jesus, we understand that as His children we should be so close to Him that His life within us should be glorious, filled with joy and happiness because of His great love not only for us, but in us. Jesus prays that such be so in the Gospel of John, chapter 17 verses 23 through 26.
[23] I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
[24] Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
[25] O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
[26] And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
There is no other way by which we are to comprehend the kind of relationship our Heavenly Dad desires to have with us other than that of love. And in truth the 4 scriptures above are pregnant with what the Apostle John meant when he discussed our being made perfect in love. When we draw near to our Heavenly Dad all fear should depart from us.
Read 1 John chapter 4.
Perfect love casts out all fear. The perfect love of our Heavenly Dad within us when we relate to Him as our Father like Jesus did brings a joy and peace into our life that is indeed glorious. Oh what a great love our Heavenly Dad has for us not only toward us but in us. When we come to completely understand the desire of our Heavenly Dad toward us, and the Lord Jesus toward us, and them within us, we become “one” with them which is the will of God for us, that there be no difference between the Spirit of God and us the “same” as there was no difference between our Heavenly Dad and our Lord Jesus, for they were perfect in one, and that perfection was rooted and grounded in the Love of the Father for His Son. Jesus asked the Father that we be made perfect in Jesus as Jesus was made perfect with the Father in Him, and that though the love of the Father in us as it was with the Father in our Lord Jesus, we be made perfect through the love of our Heavenly Dad as Jesus was made perfect in Him.
What kind of living being is God? Jesus called Him a “Spirit.”
John.4
[23] But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
[24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
We understand that a person born into this Earth has a physical body. As such he/she is called a human being. The body of a human being has many responsibilities within itself. It must automatically see to it that all vital organs, blood and bones are nourished to function normally within in their various systems. Within each human being is a soul that interacts with the world around it. The soul of a human being normally makes decisions based on his/her needs in the world around them.
God is a Spiritual Being. The outer covering of a Spiritual Being is made of light. The Apostle John described Him as a being of light, saying also there is no darkness within Him. Jesus said that if we have seen Him we have also seen the Father. Thus within the framework of light within and upon which is Spirit, we see the form of God in that of our Lord Jesus, our Lord Jesus being the Mind of the Spirit, or soul of the Spirit if you will. Like our physical body, the Spirit of God is a covering that maintains the inner autonomous workings of the Spirit of God, and functions through the soul of God to govern His Kingdom by His light of glory. In other words the mind, (soul), in the form of God which is the same as that of our Lord, governs how God relates to all things in the Spiritual Realm of God the Father’s Kingdom.
Paul describes the Spirit of our Lord in this manner.
Col.2
[9] For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
In the Book of Revelation Jesus refers to Himself as “The Spirit” that has the 7 Spirits of God confirming that He and the Father are the same.
Thus we come to ask the question, “What are the attributes of “The Spirit, The Spirit of the Lord, The Spirit of our Father?”
We find the answer in the Book of the Prophet Isaiah.
Isa.9
[6] For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (In this section we will only discuss The Spirit of our Lord in terms of how He rules and why such makes Him wonderful to us. As for the rest of the attributes in this paragraph either we have discussed them already, or will below, or will somewhere in the context of the remaining 6 Spirits of God.
First we see that the government rests upon The Spirit of the Lord. We find in the Book of Revelation the Person of God is Lord of Lords and King of Kings, and as such is called “Faithful and True, and that in righteousness he doth judge and make war.” As the King of His empire, He rules in a way that delights all that live in His Kingdom…for it is written…”When the righteous are in power the people rejoice.” The Spirit of the Lord makes those in His Kingdom happy because He judges them fairly, and provides for their welfare. Thus, to the people of God He is called Wonderful.

God provides for the welfare of His people. He provides for our welfare. How so? Let’s consider what He has made available to us in His Kingdom where entitlements are concerned. Here are the various provisions, each an attribute of The Spirit of God, or the Spirit of the Lord, or The Spirit, that proves God provides for the welfare of those in His Kingdom. The entitlements are summed up in the various names of God wherein He provides for us. They are listed and interpreted after the following scriptures that declare God provides for those in His Kingdom through provisions. Remember this. We have been blessed with all Spiritual blessings in Heavenly Places. Summed up it is the Spirit of our Lord that meets all of our needs.
Pss.68
[19] Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
Pss.103
[2] Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Pss.116
[12] What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
4Ezra.1
[17] Where are the benefits that I have done for you? When ye were hungry and thirsty in the wilderness, did ye not cry unto me?
4Ezra.9
[10] For such as in their life have received benefits, and have not known me.
The information giving us an understanding of how the Spirit of the Lord provides for us may be found at this URL. http://www.gotquestions.org/names-of-Go ... z3Y5YuuNxI
Jehovah and Yahweh are the same name of God.
YAHWEH-JIREH:"The Lord Will Provide" (Genesis 22:14) – the name memorialized by Abraham when God provided the ram to be sacrificed in place of Isaac.

YAHWEH-RAPHA:"The Lord Who Heals" (Exodus 15:26) – “I am Jehovah who heals you” both in body and soul. In body, by preserving from and curing diseases, and in soul, by pardoning iniquities.
YAHWEH-NISSI:"The Lord Our Banner" (Exodus 17:15), where banner is understood to be a rallying place. This name commemorates the desert victory over the Amalekites inExodus 17.
YAHWEH-M'KADDESH:"The Lord Who Sanctifies, Makes Holy" (Leviticus 20:8;Ezekiel 37:28) – God makes it clear that He alone, not the law, can cleanse His people and make them holy.
YAHWEH-SHALOM:"The Lord Our Peace" (Judges 6:24) – the name given by Gideon to the altar he built after the Angel of the Lord assured him he would not die as he thought he would after seeing Him.
YAHWEH-TSIDKENU:"The Lord Our Righteousness” (Jeremiah 33:16) – As with YHWH-M’Kaddesh, it is God alone who provides righteousness to man, ultimately in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, who became sin for us “that we might become the Righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

YAHWEH-ROHI:"The Lord Our Shepherd" (Psalm 23:1) – After David pondered his relationship as a shepherd to his sheep, he realized that was exactly the relationship God had with him, and so he declares, “Yahweh-Rohi is my Shepherd. I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1).
Summed up, The Spirit of the Lord is the person of the Lord, made manifest to us in the form of our Lord Jesus, who is, Himself, The Spirit of the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord is the seat where the personality of God is made manifest to us along with the will of God and mind of God. The personality of God is best understood when viewed in His role as our Heavenly Dad. As our Heavenly Dad we draw close to Him and become one with Him in mind and Spirit through His tangible love. God is love. Since I have met Him in the person of His love, I can tell you for a fact that He is the origin, and perfect essence of all that is love, and when He visits us He imparts His love nature to us. It is through the love nature of the Spirit of our Lord that we receive eternal life. The eternal life of the Spirit of the Lord can only be understood when He makes us alive in Him by His eternal life which is that of the person of His love, The Spirit of the Lord, living within us.
1John.3
[2] Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Affirmation of who we have been made to be by the Spirit of our Lord living within us…
1John.4
[13] Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
The Spirit of the Lord lives in us.
God is a Spirit, a body made entirely of light. The body of the Spirit of our Lord contains the expressed image of God, that being our Lord Jesus. When eternal life is imparted to us through the Spirit of the Lord, our new nature is that of His love which is light, our form that of our Lord Jesus who becomes our light by entering into our soul, and turning our soul into the light of the mind of Christ, The Spirit of our Lord.
The Spirit of our Lord governs us through His attributes, making Himself our body, our righteousness, our peace, our holiness, our dwelling place, our mind, our health, our food, and our protection. The Spirit of the Lord is indeed in all ways Wonderful!!! Through Him we are blessed with all “Spiritual blessings” in Heavenly Places…That being The Spirit of the Lord Himself!
In our next article we will discuss Spirit number 2 of the Lord, The Spirit of Wisdom.
