Friends, "For we are saved by hope". (Romans 8:24 ONT, Orthodox New Testament, Copyright 2000, Holy Apostles Convent, Buena Vista, CO); p. 103.). Comment: Saint Chrysostom: " "We are saved by hope" (te gar elpidi esothemen). And this is what he is saying: We are not to seek our all in this life, but also to have hope. For this is the only gift that we brought into to God, that we believed Him in what He promised should come, and by this path alone were we saved. If then we lose this hope, we have lost all that was our own contributing" [Hom. 14, PG 60:584 (col 532).]

Friends, Have you ever heard of the Church Fathers? John Chrysostom, Jerome, Athanasius, Ephrem the Syrian, Symeon the New Theologian, etc.? These are the earliest Christians to have commented upon Romans and the other NT Scriptures. God bless you. In Erie PA Scott Harrington
