Christianity Oasis Forum

Hosted by Saint 701 ... This forum is for the purpose of examining the subject of Grace and its great place in God's work in the body of Christ Jesus of which we are a part. "The Book of Romans" was chosen for the title since that book is so rich in Grace to us, but in no way is this forum limited in examining Grace to only the "Book of Romans."

Has Your Faith been Shaken and not Stirred?

Has Your Faith Been Shaken, Not Stirred?

I can’t count the times in the past that my faith has been shaken. Those were lonely times, painful times, cloudy times…I didn’t understand why I felt so abandoned. Those times caused me to question everything about myself and faith. I felt confused and disheartened.
For a long time I searched high and low for a remedy. Then, one day, frustrated as I was, I drove out into the countryside to a spot I felt no one could hear me and yelled with every ounce of my strength, “Lord Jesus, I have a covenant with you in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ to do me good!”
Things changed immediately! The dark clouds parted and the sky became radiant with the light of God. Not literally mind you, but in terms of how my soul felt after I unburdened myself through that rather unorthodox way of praying. But those kinds of prayers, though a little off the norm, were exercises in faith that loosed me from oppression by the working of God’s Spirit of Might in me.
Oppression…always from the devil? Perhaps…because of the fall of Adam…but in my case, more often than not, I didn’t know how to get myself back into right standing with the Lord without driving out into the countryside and screaming bloody murder…wasn’t really like that, but my yelling turned my faith loose, and the Lord was faithful.
Thankfully over the years as the attacks have gotten stronger the Lord has given me grace to increase in His strength, to the point He always causes me to triumph over the devil according to His promise. How? I triumph through my faith in His Word which is the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, and His Spirit of Might in my inward man.
I already have the victory in Christ Jesus. The devil knows that, but comes at me anyway to test my defenses. But, I am mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds! Remember the Spirit of Might I discussed in my articles on the 7 Spirits of God?

Eph.1 [19] And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Eph. 3 [16] That He would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
We are entitled to ask for and be strengthened by God’s Spirit of Might.
Understanding who God has made us in Christ Jesus and whose Spirit is the one empowering us is quite the eye opener. It helps our faith a lot to know that it is God, the Spirit of Might that indwells us. But it is easy to forget that it is God within us that is able to do exceedingly more than we can ask or think. When we can’t…He can and will.
Eph.3 [20] Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Now, I recognize an attack of the wicked one before it gets nasty, and slam the door in its face with the Spirit of Might of God. Calling upon God to strengthen you within with the Spirit of His Might when your faith gets a little shaky will stir up your faith. Remember, those that call upon the Lord shall be saved, and the fact of the matter is this. There are many potential situations we need to be saved out of, not just saved in terms of our salvation only, but the salvation He also provides for us within by the Spirit of His Might.
Here is a short prayer for you to shout out to the Lord when oppression comes calling and you find yourself without an apparent solution. First get yourself away from people so that only God can hear you, then shout…

“Lord Jesus! I have a covenant with you in the presence of the Most High God to do me good! It is written that those that call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved!!! I’m calling upon your name Lord Jesus to save me out of my present circumstances with your great power in your Spirit of Might in my inward man. Furthermore, I ask that quicken my mortal body to endure in this situation and give you glory! Thank you Lord Jesus, Amen."

It is most certainly far better to die in faith believing, than it is to live in unbelief.
