Day 8
My granddaughter is coming today so I decided to do Day 8 this morning.
When I first started I had the old feelings come in about my past, how I had failed God by marrying my first husband. Thinking about this always defeats me. Then when reading day 8 one of the first things that was said is that it is not our fault- sin lives within us. I am no different then anybody else. God keeps bringing me back to the verse He gave me when I started this (Isaiah 43:16,18-19) "Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old..."
God does not want us dwelling on the past. He knows the way that we take (Job 23:10) and when He has tried us we shall come forth as gold."
He knows what we will do before we do. So in knowing this He considers this in His ultimate plan for us? Am I right in saying that?

Ok here I am again. I was sitting here praying about this and God brought to mind another verse in Isaiah. It is Isaiah 45:2&3B " I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight, I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:
..that thou mayest know that I am the Lord, which call thee by name am the God of Israel.
Our testimony as Christians is people being able to see God making the crooked places straight. Because all have sinned, all of us, if we keep on keeping on in the Lord, allowing Him to pick us back up and dust us off, and it is seen by us and others how He has made a path in the wilderness, a river in the desert, crooked places straight.
I think I've got it. That is our testimony as Christians. Seeing God in our lives. It isn't us doing it, it's Him

Another thing...
I was talking to some Christian friends yesterday that are around my age.
they were saying how when we were growing up years ago in the church they talked about "God's perfect will for our Lives" And if you weren't careful we would end up with His "Second Best, or Third Best ..etc"
That was ingrained in us.
Someone also sent me this today:
The real danger of legalism is that it produces a sense of
attainment that short-circuits our call to live the life of Yes
through Christ. Self-achievement brings a false sense of
assurance that somehow we can live a pure life in our own
ability. This attitude ultimately leads us to cut ourselves off
from the heart of God and, in turn, to deny our true identity in
Christ.
-- David Edwards
I realize how wrong that teaching was back then and it is still wrong today.
It stunted my growth in the Lord for along time. I always felt I had failed God and didn't get "His Perfect will" for my life. And His second Best didn't look possible either. I gave up for awhile.
Now I have a new way of thinking
Thank you Jesus, Thank you Oasis

Sylvia, it's amazing how you have brought out how another man's words can make us think things that aren't true regarding Word. The Truth is that you can only find Truth from reading and studying the Word. You will hear Oasis say on more occassions than one, to read the Word, to check what he says. Oasis tells the Truth, no other way but through the Word. I'm so glad you have seen these past words for what they were and have come to know the Truth. Keep on doing the steps as you are doing well.
