Slowing Down....MERRY CHRISTMAS
If you read the Message Board a day or so ago, you may have read about the Lord "yanking my chain". I am happy to report that the rash from the yanking has healed....(just kidding), but I have had some really good days.
When I left home yesterday to do some last minute shopping, I made a vow....."I will be positive in my attitude: I will smile; I will pass out compliments, esp to people I don't know personally, and I will say MERRY CHRISTMAS." With the Lord's help, I was able to accomplish all that....and I felt GOOD about the day. Because my energy level is not exactly back to full speed, my body was "bone-tired" when I finally arrived at home after dark. But even the chore of unloading the car and putting away groceries, gifts, etc. did not cause a frown or grumble. I had joy in my heart.
While shopping I encountered numerous people employed by the state prison system in our area (guards). I stopped most of them, thanked them for what they do on a daily basis. Though underpaid and working in a less than pleasant atmosphere, these people help keep us safe, while looking out for the welfare of the incarcerated felons. All were amazed that a stranger would greet them in such a way. One lady said she will pass the word to her co-workers that someone out there in the free world is praying for them.
Have you given any thought to sending a Christmas/thank you card to your doctors? ministers? business/government leaders? We take them for granted without saying "thank you."
It is my hope and desire that each of you will enjoy this most holy holiday....remembering the reason we celebrate.....the birth of the babe in the manger who gave his life on the cross....but hallelujah!!!! He is risen and gives life to those who believe.
MERRY CHRISTMAS one and all. sassy3

Amen Sassy, Amen.
He is Risen. Jesus Lives. Jesus is Life.
Thank you Sassy for the beautiful reminders. Yes, we need to purpose our heart -- put on that armour before venturing out into that harsh world.
I loved your words about unloading the car. Yes, during those mundane activities/chores, we must guard our hearts -- especially when we are physically tired. Awesome advice.
You know, sometimes I forget to talk to people when I'm shopping. I gear up, physically, for outings making sure I drink fluids and take little rest stops, but sometimes I get too focused on my physical being and the list of errands, and forget to share with others in warm greetings and a smile. And as you said, a thank you for what someone else does routinely sometimes gets losts in the hustle and bustle of our hurried life. Thank you, Sassy, for the warm reminder.
God bless you,
Mack
